Ok, this one ended up being a little bit of drama. I’m not sure I am in agreement of it all, but I couldn’t resist blogging it since it hasn’t been deleted even though it includes tattle taleing, lying, retaliatory feedback, and the seller has been outed. (And I want to try this new thread reply thing.)

There was a second thread on this, but it went poof. This is long, but worth a read.

What do you think is fair here?

I bought some fitteds from a Mama, for the baby that was not to be.
She advertised them as VGUC but without stains whatsoever.

I got them today and 3 of the 4 have stains. She did post pics but it was a large group pic and they were not visible in that pic.

Two on the inside and one on the backside (odd right?)

Well I PM her and tell her I’d like a partial refund on each or to return them and she’ll pay the postage back.

She says she’ll give me 50c partial refund for each because they were off FSOT and not new or I can send them back and not get a my shipping, but what I paid. She pretty much stated that I was making it up, but IDK why I’d buy diapers I needed for a baby and then make up a story about stains? We’re still TTC so I still need the diapers, hopefully I’ll need them in November instead of October.

Now, I know that these were not newhttp://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=48 but when someone says specifically “No stains” in their ad, the diapers should be stain free, right?

I felt I was being fair with my offer, was I asking too much?

I told her I’d PM a mod, since she’s made it clear that there were no stains on the diapers and she is not willing to refund me my shipping back to her if I do that. But I figured I’d stop here first, and get others opinions before I do that..

Re: What do you think is fair here?

I think we have a bigger problem here, DH informed me that the WAY she shipped it was actually illegal here. He learned it in his in-processing brief, it violates the German-American customs/SOFA agreement.

I’m not going to sun them, I can’t even sun my own diapers!! I read the pamphlet and it says we can’t put our personal property in common areas.. so I guess that means no diapers outside. DH is convinced that the windows block UV, is that what bleaches the diapers? And yea, at that point IDK if I’d expect her to take them back, because I’d have fiddled with them, kwim?

At least I’m not nuts, and y’all see the stains too!

Re: What do you think is fair here?

She shipped them from Germany but from an APO. In Germany if you sell one item, it is considered a business transaction and therefore subject to payment of taxes under the German law. By selling an item and shipping through an APO instead of from the German Post Office you a43 1. not paying the taxes on selling an item (stuff here has the taxes built in at the store, you don’t pay a tax rate on top of the cost you see) and 2. it violates Army policies and regulations violating APO shipping. The US government has an agreement w/the German government stating that it will NOT allow any of its soldiers or family members circumvent paying taxes by conducting business shipping through APO.

If it was a gift, and no money was exchanged, then shipping MPS/APO would be no problem.

I would LOVE to send the items back, but she won’t pay for the return shipping. I’m going to the post office tomorrow to speak with them to see if I can mail them back for free also.

DH’s in-processing is fresh in his mind and they got a customs/SOFA brief. IDK if she realizes what she did, but DH is very interested now because he has a high sense of integrity.

Re: What do you think is fair here?

I shipped them back today. I believe she was being dishonest because of the way she worded the ad (which I have screenshotted for the Mods). She was also rude in how she handled things, insisting that when you buy off fsot you should expect things to come stained and not as they were promised because they are used. IDK about you but that’s not how I see FSOT.

I’m supposed to get updated w/the outcome of the investigation into her shipping so we’ll see what the Postmaster and Customs here say when it’s all said and done. She could not only be fined by Customs but she could lose all of her APO privileges (meaning she would lose her US address). IDK if that was an oversight on her part, but all of our spouses are specifically briefed when they get here in their orientation about the German laws and the Customs rules regarding APO/FPO and MPS.

My problem is that I believe people when they say things. I take them at their word. I like to believe that people are good and don’t do dishonest things. Maybe I should just stop doing that. I would rather not believe that people would treat other people that way but I guess I should be less naive.

Well I’m livid. I don’t in any way deserve neutral feedback, I’ve done nothing wrong but catch her in a lie…. WTF was she thinking? That’s against TOU here…

Yikes!

Delete please..waiting for sellers response

* I have reworded this..I did make it sound like I way overpaid. My total was $35ppd.*

This is the stuff I paid for on the 5th. It arrived today. IT clearly has a postmark of Feb. 19th on it. She said she mailed it way before that. Also she said it cost her more than what I paid for it to send to me. That was $35 and the postmark says $11.15. So she did make a profit of $23.85. She is saying that she had to pay out on them and made nothing from this sell. Here’s my real problem(see pic)

I paid for 7 diapers , and only received 6 in the package.
I have asked for a refund of $10 for the missing diaper and the now dirty one from the open package. Or I said I would mail them all back and split the shipping cost for a full refund. Is this unreasonable? I’ve never had a problem on here, so I’m not really sure what to do. Thanks for any suggestions.

Question about custom and timeline? With UPDATE!

So, I bought a custom slot on 02/02. The listing said the time between payment and receiving the diapers would be 1 to 3 weeks, depending on order size.I ordered 4 diapers. It said “more than 4” would likely be nearer to 3 weeks than to 1.

Well, anyway – that was February 2nd, as I said. And I sent in a custom fabric for one (which was received within 3 days, according to tracking) and she told me I was “next.”

So, today is 02/24. Twenty-two days. And I have no diapers. I have little communication from the person.

The person came highly recommended and I know she does nice work. BUT I really think longer than 3 weeks (particularly longer than the person’s STATED timeline) is ridiculous. I’ve had someone make me 12 diapers before and those did not take this long.

Also, the person had me pay for the entire order immediately after I told her what I wanted. Everyone else that I’ve ever had a custom with has required payment AFTER they’ve completed their end and knew I was satisfied with how they looked in a photo (prior to shipment).

Is this strange or the norm?

UPDATE – I received the package from this person today. It is all wrong. Like my custom print isn’t even one of them and I do not recognize one of the other prints. So, I got 2 of the 4 prints that I ordered. And they’re the wrong size! I ordered mediums and she made larges. The package contained a handwritten note, which said that she “messed up” my fabric, so she substituted a similar one (are you kidding me? I paid $30 for that fabric and it was very HTF and the one she chose isn’t at all similar!) and that, because she took so long, she took the liberty of “upping” the size, so they’d fit my child longer.

No, no, no. My daughter will probably NEVER fit into larges. I tried one on her and it fell right off. She is 19 months old… she is built skinny and since her birthday, she’s been a very slow weight gainer, so I sincerely doubt that she’ll ever fit into these diapers. Like EVER.

When I emailed her – she said quite specifically “there’s no refunds on customs.” I get that, but this isn’t what I ordered at all and I want my fabric back. She didn’t have the courtesy to email me to tell me AT ALL.

Re: Issue resolved.

I will not be filing anything.

Apparently, she is a member here. She has seen “everything” unfold.

Also, me filing with Paypal must’ve sparked something.

Anyway, she said she’d give me a full refund + all of the shipping costs, IF I did not leave negative feedback or file a report against her. She was also willing to pay for the fabric that she botched and take the diapers that I did receive back.

I think that’s fair.

Sorry, but if keeping my mouth shut means I get $150+ back (this is after shipping and the fabric costs), then I’m going to do it.

And to be honest – I don’t feel OK with “helping out” the people here on DS, who so graciously called me “psycho” and a “liar” and who knows what other names.

Attacking someone, because they won’t give you information is childish and I’m not going to stoop to that level. I refuse to, nor am I going to help those people.

Hmmm… without any other details, I say call the police. PP won’t do any good b/c you “received something”. Hmmm…

How do I get my diapers or over $300 back?

Ok, so yes, maybe I’m an idiot, but I’m a trusting idiot, and I’m happy with that part of me so anyway…Here goes.

Back in August, I was asked if I wanted to “piggyback” on an order a friend of mine was placing with a WAHM. I said yes, was told I could order 9 diapers, and sent $565 through Paypal. About a month later, my friend told me that she realized she had actually overcharged me for my diapers, and owed me around $70, but she was PP-less, could she send it to me a bit later. I told her that would be fine.

Fast forward to December. I received 4 diapers. 5 of them were supposed to be arriving a couple of weeks later. Around the middle of January, I emailed (or pm’ed I can’t remember) my friend asking about the rest of my diapers. She said that she would contact the mama SHE had piggybacked on about the remainder of my order.

I never received a response, and have since found out that the mama my friend had piggybacked my (her) order on has since dropped off of the face of DS (right around the time my second shipment of diapers was supposed to ship). I am now getting either no response, or very short, curt responses from my “friend” regarding my diapers. I’m due around $350 total and I’m starting to get really, really irritated.

WWYD?

I wanna throw up *ADDED PICS IN OP**UPDATE POST #63*

I spent over $100 to have a bunch of elastic fixed on my pockets. I could have done it myself, but splurged so I could focus on other sewing projects. I can believe how crappy they turned out.

There are untrimmed threads everywhere. She used black thread on white fleece. And the elastic is way too tight. I am going to try to use them. No wonder she was so weird about making sure I would pay her before getting the diapers. I should have known something was up when she told me she did all 3 elastics on all but one, when about ten of them had perfect back elastics and just needed legs done.

I feel totally taken.

These pics aren’t great but will give you an idea of the issues. I will add a comparison pic for a normal large fb and the large fbs with crazy tight elastics after I do the wash.

very uneven legs

black thread on white fleece (see the untrimmed threads… a bunch of them had those)

made new start and stop points for elastic (like two inches away from the old ones… looks terrible in person)

caught inner fleece in seam… makes it too narrow to stuff and looks bad… how did she not notice that?

Re: I wanna throw up *ADDED PICS IN OP*

Okay she PMd me.

She says she’ll fix them if they are messed up. She also told me that her oversights do not require negative feedback or making her name mud on the board.

I don’t even know what to do here. I certainly do not feel comfortable having her do more “work” to my diapers. As far as making her name mud, her work speaks for itself… I haven’t told anyone who she is.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, mamas.

Other than cropping or changing a background, it isn’t ok! Who the hell is adjusting images THAT much?

WAHMs who photoshop their pics…

I always make a point of never photoshopping my pictures beyond adjusting lighting for pics that are blown out or cropping. Sometimes I will adjust sharpness a tad if the pic is slightly out of focus. But I’ve seen some pictures recently that suggest that the sellers have been altering color saturation. I just don’t think that’s ethical. It’s sort of like false advertising- making the colors in the item seem more vibrant than it really is in real life. What do you think? Has anyone else noticed this? How much photoshopping is okay?

Nope. It isn’t the coolest thing they could do, but oh well…

And FTR, the group isn’t *that* well known.

What do you think….

about a person that takes a name from a well known cd group and piggybacks off of it to make her own store with the SAME NAME?!?! and has the nerve to ask for help on making the cds and promoting in said group?!?! dont these people realize that not everyone can just BE a wahm making diapers you have to test and have some skill to start with?!
