Did anyone read the Mutts Bad Apple.. doesn’t seem worthy of a bad apple and looked like customer was hard to please. She didnt like the faulty mutts she received, demanded Mutts to make her new ones free – but refused to send the bad ones back to her.. and she wondered why mutts stopped responding?

    Wishing you guys the best!

On a diapering note… Anybody have a clue how Joyce from BSRB is mass producing diapers so quickly? Does she have a sewing circle or something?

At least 30 diapers every Thursday, and then there was an extra stocking earlier this week, and another one today featuring almost 30.

  24. LL says:

Oh no! Hope everything works out. Best wishes, ladies!

  25. Erin says:

#23, I was starting to wonder the same thing. Maybe she has a helper or her Dh sews too.

  26. Incognizable says:

@23 & 25 she hired someone, it was on her website about 2-3 months ago, I believe. That is why there were so many seconds featured in the last few months.

  27. me says:

I hope that whatever it is isn’t serious or if it is, that it can be resolved in a good way!

    17-That was really weird.
The woman who posted said that she tried to pay for part or something though.

  28. MissMessiah says:

Is it still considered a WAHM business when you hire people to do your work? That would make me very nervous. Then you have to have an inspector as well to make sure everything is up to par.

  29. MajKitab says:

#26 – Well that would certianly be the kind of information she should keep posted up.. maybe in an “About Me” section, something that is missing from her website anyway. I just recently discovered BSRBs and think they’re great, but it’s lame how the sentiment is “Oh Joyce rocks, Joyce this, and Joyce that!” when there is actually someone behind the scenes and sharing in the work.

#28 – I know I realize that WAHM is only an abbrev. for ‘Work At Home Mom’ and not neccesarily ‘One Woman Business From Home’ but I think the original idea of the label is indeed that your getting handmade items from one person, or where a couple Moms get together and they advertise themselves that way.

  30. MajKitab says:

It just doesn’t seem all that different than what goodmama did with itself to capitalize on the scene… Or is it?

  31. yeahok says:

Joyce only hired a helper because she got overwhelmed with everyone wanting her stuff. She still sews as well. She does the wholesale that she sends to LB site and then does all the customs. She also is the only one that handles customers. The person she has hired just helps her sew and she inspects them. Hence the seconds for those few stockings.

Joyce still takes pride in her customers and her product, which is why she hired someone to help her a bit. She didn’t want to be so stressed that her customer service or her product started lacking.

Can’t say that about Goodmama though.

  32. tweedle*deedee says:

Joyce’s SIL is now sewing with her, too. As far as I understand, it is just the 2 of them. Like PP said, this is why there were seconds, while her SIL got the hang of the pattern. I’d hardly call this mass-producing. Her product’s integrity is very important to her.

I know Joyce works very hard and I am glad to see that she finally took on someone else that she trusts to do the same. I know she has awesome customer service and quite a large customer base because of this. I have known her to give away diapers when she saw a need. Can’t say I ever heard of GM doing the same. Joyce *is* an awesome WAHM mom, very much so! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope all is well very soon in the TDDS realm. I miss reading stuff here.

  33. Moolaa says:

Joyce at the moment only as 2 people working with her cutting and pinning. She does all the sewing. Her SIL didn’t work out.

  34. Luna says:

No one can sew better than me.

Speaking of which, who else wants customs? PM on DS: Bukawww

  35. eeek says:

I think it’s rather judgmental to say that someone is not a WAHM who works at home, with their children, but has people help them (& I mean any of the MANY WAHMs who have help). Because someone has achieved success they somehow are “using” the title? They should only make as much money as they can do by themselves, otherwise it’s cheating? What about all the people who have cleaning help? Are WAHMs allowed to do that? Or are they supposed to exclude themselves because it’s not somehow right?

If you only want to buy things from solitary artisans, more power to you. But don’t slam others for having a little success in what they’re doing.

  36. MajKitab says:

Eh, if someone else is extremely involved in the making of a product.. then I think it should be made known. That’s all. No judging or slamming anyone here.

When you find yourself overwhelmed and in need of help, you certainly expand and let your patrons know what’s up.
Apparently Joyce did put up a notice but I wasn’t interested in BSRB at that time so never saw it.

It’s why I was curious about the large amount of diapers being put out in a week, by what I thought was a one woman business.
