Opinions on an item please
I need opinions on a recent custom. I am unhappy with it. The WAHM has been great in responding. I haven’t asked for anything and she hasn’t offered, we are still discussing the issue. She has a ton of positive feedback. She seemed hurt that I complained & I feel bad about that. I have never complained about an item before. So I need to know if I’m seeing issues that aren’t there. Would you be upset about paying full price for this sewing? I see looped and broken thread that reminds me of what my sewing looks like when my tension is off – but it could be something else entirely for all I know. Also missed seams and just wonky stitching. But maybe I’m wrong, I’d like feedback before I respond back to the most recent email.

loops & broken threads on inner and outer seam

broken thread and??

missed seams – three spots of this

So am I imagining it? Is this within what you find acceptable 1st quality for a WAHM? I really want opinions, I hate hurting anyone’s feelings.

If you can’t sew, don’t get all butt hurt when someone complains about your crappy work. We know times are hard, you’re “just” a mom, etc. But you can’t ship out a shitty product and expect people to be sensitive to your feelings.

OP, has the wahm offered to fix the items? Could she remake the items she sent you into the similar items that offer the feature you wanted? And as long as she is fixing/remaking the items, couldn’t she get thread to match and charge you the additional fee? It’s worth asking. . . It’s always better to get what you want even if you have to wait a bit to get it (and either way, you’ll have to wait now — even if you ordered from someone else, you’d have to wait and some of the other replies said that this wahm is the only one that makes this item so you might even be able to find somewhere else to get them from) than to leave neg fb, possibly be out the pp and both you and the wahm be upset from this transaction.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here. . . flame me if you must (good luck with the smileys not working <insert giggle smiley here>), but playing devil’s advocate is just in my nature. . . I can’t help it.

Oh, yeah, and these are just thoughts that came to mind while reading this thread. . .

1. The OP stated several times that this wahm has been great in responding, polite and responsive, so I don’t see why everyone is saying to go ahead and leave her negative feedback. Feedback stickies encourage us to wait until the transaction is completely over before leaving feedback. And if the op is still speaking with the wahm about the issues, then the transaction is not completely over.

2. There are plenty of wahms (here and on HC) that don’t give refunds for customs, that allow you to either return them and get store credit (many with restocking fees) or offer to remake them if there are issues. This is because custom items are just that — custom, made to one person’s specifications and therefore harder to resell than standard sized items.

3. Several people have mentioned that this could have been a tension issue and that it’s possible that the wahm saw that one side looked fine and assumed the 2nd side looked fine, too. And the OP stated that the wahm has a ton of positive feedback, so surely she wouldn’t have tons of positive feedback if she was bad at sewing. So why not give her the benefit of the doubt and let her try to fix it before asking for a refund? We wahms are all human and all make mistakes. And most of us have kiddos or are pg. We all have a lot of stuff going on. So cut a mama some slack. . . give her a chance to fix the issue. If you’re not going to get a refund anyways, then what can it hurt?

4. Wahms are humans, not machines. I understand that customers expect good quality work, but expecting work to be done perfectly, no stitch out of line. . . I don’t sew, but is it even possible to make something perfectly? I’m not saying that this work is acceptable, just replying to a post in this thread. . .

5. Some wahms have policies that other people think are weird (like the thread policy of this wahm). It’s not necessarily because they are lazy or cheap. Those are just the policies that they decided upon and policies change all the time. Being a WAHM is a work in progress, it’s always evolving, at least for me.

IMO you should see if the wahm will fix/remake the items to your satisfaction before leaving feedback. Just my 2 cents.

Why have you failed to mention the fact that you are the WAHM in questions sister? You claim in your post to be innocently playing “devil’s advocate” but I think it would have been more honest to tell everyone that you are the WAHM’s sister. It is perfectly okay to come to the defense of a friend or relative, but the way you went about this is very deceitful.

I’m glad things got worked out, I knew they would. She is a very nice mama to work with despite what has gone on in this thread. I hope you get what you are looking for!

So I’m not allowed to have any opinions about being a WAHM in general (even though I am a wahm) or post any opinions because I might be related to someone who sews? The OP did not say who the WAHM in question is (nor is she allowed to) and my opinions are just that — mine. I don’t like to see anyone get bashed by a lynch mob and have been the devil’s advocate in many other threads that did not involve any family or friends. Not to mention, if I were to go on a thread that was about my sister and say “hey, I’m this unrevealed wahm’s sister”, I would be outing that wahm which is not permitted.

I don’t like these threads as the person being criticized is not allowed to respond and defend themselves or tell the rest of the story. I understand why as to some extent it decreases the amount of drama, but it hasn’t seemed to decrease drama in this case as despite the OPs statements that the wahm in question was not avoiding dealing with the issue and was polite, working with her to figure out a solution but just did not agree with her 100% almost everyone who has replied to this thread has bashed this wahm for “not being willing to fix the issue” even though she is.

Not to mention, the OP is satisfied with the outcome, so why is this even still an issue? You ran out of drama bashing the wahm and want to bash me? That’s fine. . . but if you can state your opinion, I can state mine. And if you don’t feel the necessity to preface your every post by listing everyone on DS who is your friend or relative, then don’t expect me to either.

And I don’t see why anyone would base whether or not they would buy from a wahm based on one person’s issue with one item that is in the process of being resolved, especially when this wahm has “tons of positive fb” according to the OP. . .

Just updating the drama.

Ouch. Talk about attention to detail.

  11. Kimbella says:

Really, how long does it take to change thread in a sewing machine?! And, thread is cheap! I’m a fairly novice sewer, and I’ve got close to 30 different colors of thread!

  12. Kimbella says:

Sew-er not a drain sewer. hehehe

  13. Cubanita says:

You mamas are some awesome detectives! Must teach me! I’m having a hard time with the WAHM being upset about this. She made a crappy job and her feelings are hurt?! W/E!

  14. alison says:

hehe – sewer indeed. and my thoughts exactly on the thread.

Cubanita – the beauty of DS is that generally people leave an easily searchable brag/query trail.
    😉

  15. Rika says:

My husband just walked behind me and was like “I like that color … what are those loopy things? Is that thread?” and leaned in for a closer look. When a man notices it, you know it’s bad.

  16. dirtyj says:

You can not miss crappy sewing like that. It looks like the machine was off. I had that happen in the midst off a huge order. I had to buy a new machine to finish and mine didnt look half that bad. not even close. Never in a million years would I ship that out. Are you sure that is OBV? Looks too thick.

  17. Booyah says:

Geez Louise. I cringed looking at that. I can’t believe she thought those were acceptable to sell. Something is obviously wrong with her machine, that’s not just sloppy sewing. The buyer has every right to be upset!

  18. theinvisible says:

What is the point of having something made of a nice soft material if the inside that is next to the skin isn’t soft. Am I seeing that right? It looks like the inside is all scratchy and the outside is velour. What’s the point? Those are crap.

  19. magpiedpiper says:

Not surprised. I personally don’t care for shortcake2386, and she was already on my do not b/s/t list. As a new mom, I posted about buying some nursing pads off etsy that were said to be leak proof and were not for me. I was upset because I was in that new mom stage just past the point where adrenaline gets you through, and truly exhausted by my DD who needed to be constantly held (cried if I even put her down so I could pee), didn’t sleep at ALL at night, nursed every hour for 30-40 minutes. So it was my own fault for not buying pads with more absorbent materials, but still made me cry, lol.

Anyway, long story short, she posted on my thread saying to pm her and she would send me a pair she makes to try for free. I replied, saying thanks, I’d love to buy from you and will gladly pay. She wanted to send them for free, I said how about at least shipping, she again said no, but here is the link to her shop should I want to buy anything after I receive them and gave a free shipping code too. I was so grateful, and didn’t buy new ones, just dealt with leaky boobs and milk-stains. And waited.

She never sent them. Now, I know she offered, no money exchanged hands, etc, but after all the pm’s and actually getting my address…it was just a let down when already stressed out and I figured she isn’t the type to be true to her word. I wouldn’t want to buy from someone like that. I could have bought new ones in the weeks I waited at least. So, not a big, dramariffic deal or anything, but still left a bad taste about her.

    whew, long post. sorry!

  20. JustPeachy says:

magpied its possible she did forget or they got lost. I know I made a comment in a mama cloth thread about how I (TMI ALERT) couldn’t find mama cloth that could hold my insanely heavy flow. She sent me a freebie which I received a few weeks later and while it wasn’t perfect sewing, it did the job and hasn’t fallen apart.

  21. alison says:

Good point #19. very true – the cushy pile is on… the outside.

  22. Messy says:

When I saw that stuff, I was floored. When I went to look at her other stuff, I saw that a lot of it has wonky sewing. I would not want to buy from her EVER. How can she whine about her feelings being hurt when she is sending out crap??? Also, the white thread is about the craziest thing I have ever heard of! It does not match and makes her HORRIBLE sewing skills stand out even worse. Someone should like her here and let us explain to her that everyone knows it is her and when we are done, I bet the mama with the problem would no longer be causing the hurt feelings 😉

  23. Messy says:

***link, not like :::sigh::: Going back to bed now!

  24. Munklettes says:

Now the WAHM says she doesn’t see anything wrong, and won’t refund.

  25. Kimbella says:

Is the wahm blind?! How can she not see anything wrong with those?! I hope the OP leaves neg feedback everywhere possible!

  26. alison says:

    Argh… I hope she files a JAR with pictures…

  27. magpiedpiper says:

Justpeachy, I know I’ve seen her offer to others before, so I figured it’s just her way to get customers. And of course it’s not a big deal since it’s not like I paid – it’s just my personal feelings stemming from it. Especially since she kept saying they were also stcked in her store and weren’t actually, so it made me wonder if she had any in the first place and was just going around offering things to people in posts to drum up business for others to see and think “what a nice wahm.” I’m glad she sent to you though!

But back to the OP, I can’t believe she is saying there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve been making some things for my DD, and my tension was wonky like that at first since I hadn’t dragged my machine out for a year. I messed with it for two days to fix it. I’m a mediocre sewer at best probably, and would be horrified to give something like that to anyone, let alone SELL it to them.

  28. Yup says:

No one else noticed the “custom” dye job is all blotched and uneven?

  29. youdontknowme says:

    Scroll down…

Does the green one look familiar?

  30. werd says:

wow. I just dealt with her and it went really well! I was going to have some wetbags made with my fabric, and I sent her payment and then my computer got the friggen worm of death and I wasn’t able to get online for like 2 or 3 weeks. When I got the new one, I had decided not to cloth diaper anymore and asked for a refund, and she was great about it. I gave her some time to get the money up – $30 so its a pretty big amount and she refunded and was very nice to deal with overall!

I wonder if her saying her feelings were hurt is due to her being hormonal, she’s about 9 weeks pregnant and having a rough time of it. I know that in NO WAY excuses her sewing, but that may have been why she said her feelings were hurt, etc. I can link her here if you like.

  31. . says:

Didn’t Joanne use shit load of problems excuse with the last pregnancy? I may be thinking of someone else, but I swear there was a similar story a while ago about shotty work and the excuse was b/c she’s pregnant.

  32. Jay says:

I’ve bought from shortcake before. She’s really nice but she needs a LOT more practice sewing. I ended up with: blotchy dye jobs, uneven sleeves, holes in items (due to fabric not being caught in seams like the op’s boxers ), and wonky sewing. Now, she did re-do two of the items that had holes. I sent them back to her (on my dime I believe) she *claimed* she couldn’t find the hole in one of the item…
It was just too much of a hassle to even bring the issues with other items to her attention so I didn’t. I re-dyed the blotchy items myself and had my mom rip out the wonky sewing and fix all that.
Like I said, she’s very nice but I wouldn’t buy from her ever again.

  33. Melissa says:

When one starts accepting money for items, you’re a business, not “just a mom” & have to suck it up & BE a business. You’re not allowed to be butt hurt. And everything you send out had best be 100%. That item sucks, in quality. When you miss the seams, or are too lazy to change out thread to match the fabric, & have huge goobers of thread every so often, you need to perfect your technique & give other WAHM a bad name. Not to mention a twin needle would be more appropriate in those areas? (if not a coverstitch!)

  34. amessymama says:

Oh look, a WAHM rave from Snaps. I wonder when her negative reviews are going to start?

    http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=731006

I guess this means snaps is going to be ripping of OBB diapers now.

  35. amessymama says:

Ooops. I should have posted #35 ON Snaps panties thread.

I guess crappy workmanship, refusal to own up to crappy workmanship and OBV just got me all confused.

She left off the part about how she told the blogger not to contact the sponsers of her site!

  38. Kimbella says:

What would you do in this situation?

    ——————————————————————————–

I was contacted by a random person (not on DS- to my personal email) to write a review about one of my products- didn’t want to purchase- just wanted me to send it to them & then they would write a review. I visited their site & there were a few things that bothered me about the sites they were associated with (certain things I believe strongly against) so I wrote back to them this:

“Thank you for taking the time to contact me. However, I do not see how this would benefit me as I am already getting over 10,000 hits per month. I do my own giveaways & have satisfied customers review my products. I also do not feel like the content of some of the blogs that you follow or are associated with (ie at the bottom of your site) are ones that I would like my name & my business to be associated with. I also have no garuntee that you will in fact do the product review & allow me to advertise on your site. If you would like to purchase the item at half cost & write up a review, I would sell you a few choice items for half off if you would like to do a review about one of them, however, at this moment. I don’t think that it would be a wise business decision.

Thanks for your time & good luck!-”

Is that rude or judgemental? Is it wrong how I responded? They have since posted about me on their site using every word in the book in a very disrespectful manner & posted my name as well- is there something I can do about that?

I am just furious right now- I mean I thought I was being nice about it & explaining my side…

  39. Kimbella says:

There it is – don’t know what happened the first time I tried to c&p it!

  40. amessymama says:

38-42~I’m confused by that whole situation.

All the OP had to do was say no.

  41. amessymama says:

    I mean 38-41.

  42. Kimbella says:

Yeah, the blog does seem a little odd to me. But why did the mama have to go into a long explanation of why she didn’t want the blogger to review her products?

On the mama’s blog, she mentions her sons “blessing” at a LDS chapel, so I guess she’s mormon?

  43. mmspirit7 says:

my pov they both were wrong at one point

  44. Kimbella says:

    I agree #45.

  45. mmspirit7 says:

has anyone posted on the blog yet though?

  46. Grogwench says:

Looks like the op in #44 also left off a few imortant sentances of her reply…

Thanks for your time & good luck!- Also- please do not contact any of the sponsors on my site- they are under a no- spam policy & if they are contacted by something like this, it will violate my contracts with them & ruin the business reputation I have built.

  47. Grogwench says:

Oops, sorry Kim. I didn’t see that you caught that!

  48. Booyah says:

#40, I would have just not responded, or said, “No thanks.” No need for the big long-winded explanation.

I think I remember hearing about that “review” blog awhile ago. Seems fishy.

  49. pippen says:

everyone is giving honeylover ((hugs))? i personally think that it was a very rude response. i guess when one is posting things like that, they’re just looking for hugs to make themselves feel better. I could see how the blogger would be upset, but she really needs to remove the wahm’s name from her page.

  50. theinvisible says:

If I were having one of those days I would have done the same thing the blogger did. And its not like anyone who reads her blog will know WTF the WAHM is anyway since she didn’t mention her business name. All she had to do was say no, thank you instead of insinuating the blogger was beneath all things. If you want to act holier than thou don’t get pissed when someone brings you back to earth. It’s only a little bitty blog anyway. Some would think the blogger over reacted but I think it was the OP (in her letter and in posting).

  51. Kimbella says:

The OP puts her full name on other blogs though: http://theredpolkadot.blogspot.com/2008/12/babybug-creations-llc.html

I’m not saying that it’s right of the review blogger to do that, just that the OP can’t complain too much since she puts her own name out there.

  52. Kimbella says:

Her last name is also all over the OP’s own blog.

  53. Rika says:

Uh, I visited the blog and didn’t bother reading. She misspelled Charles Bukowski’s name at the very top. That was enough to let me know whatever she has to say isn’t worthwhile. I’m such a snob.

  54. alison says:

    LOL @ 56. Yeah – I just noticed that…

  55. werd says:

Okay I get that the response from the WAHM was a little bit much and way over the top, but this blogging lady is kinda the pot calling the kettle. She complains about politeness in response – and then responds by calling the WAHM a bitch/challenging her political motives?!/uses profanity/etc?! Talk about being polite/professional!! I think that is very hypocritical and unprofessional of the blogger, and she may be cutting off her nose to spite her face.

I know if she contacted me, I’d google her blog and the minute I saw that, I wouldn’t want to work with her. It’s like “give me freebie and let me do a review or I’ll slam you on my blog” – not very appealing to WAHMs if you ask me!

I think it is very wrong that she posted the WAHM’s full name on the blog too – regardless if the WAHM puts herself out there, the blogger is putting her full name on there without, I’m sure, the WAHM’s permission.

I’m going to give the WAHM the benefit of the doubt and think that this is the first time she has ever been approached regarding something like this and she didn’t know how to respond.

    Rant/over. lol.

  56. Yup says:

And the sister (or is it cousin?), whatever relative swoops in to save the day. Augh, I so want to respond to her bullshit but it’s not even worth it. I knew Joanne’s work was shit years ago, she obviously hasn’t improved in quality or her expectations.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here. . . flame me if you must (good luck with the smileys not working ), but playing devil’s advocate is just in my nature. .

  58. Yup says:

    Oops, Joanne= Joanna

  59. Kimbella says:

    It’s her sister.

Can I say mention that on the DS thread without getting a strike?

  60. memyselfandi says:

If it is shortcake, I’ve bought mama cloth from her. There were loose threads and looping on some like that shown. At the time, I was very new to buying wahm stuff, and they weren’t too expensive, so I didn’t say anything….I also didn’t care too much what they looked like since no one really sees them. After washing, the inners have shifted and bunched a little, which is annoying also. I wouldn’t buy from her again. Live and learn.

She needs to refund that mama..

  61. Kimbella says:

The poor mama seems so sad about it all. 😦

  62. Rika says:

it looks like the OP and shortcake have come up with a resolution to remake the item. Hopefully it’ll be better quality.

  63. Kimbella says:

The OP said that shortcake will redo the original shorts or make a new pair. I’m thinking that redo means she’ll rip out the thread and just re-sew them.

  64. JustPeachy says:

I couldn’t resist responding to that idiots blog rant. Seriously how stupid can you be to trash the WAHM openly. That makes other WAHMs really feel comfortable having you do reviews for them *sarcasm*. I didn’t see anything rude with the WAHM’s response and she probably responded the way she did to be thorough and maybe cause the person writing the blog to think “Hey if I want to be associated with WAHM businesses maybe I shouldnt be following porn blogs or what not”

  65. That is not going to last very long. Looks like crap too.

  66. magpiedpiper says:

    http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7093655&postcount=76

lol…at first I thought, wow, if even Snaps realizes it sucks, then it must be bad! Until I realized that shortcake makes underwear, so just another way to beat down the competition, even if it’s akin to beating a dead horse.

  67. werd says:

me too, peach. what an idiot.

  68. hrm's mom says:

I am not great at sewing but even I know you should

A-make sure the stitches look nice

B-use thread that matches or coordinates with the fabric

c- never let anyone see my mistakes if they look that bad! haha

I am not really sure I understand where her sister is coming from or why the op is letting her redo them. If they are that bad to begin with who is to say they will get better. Plus I see know way that she did not see that they were that bad! That would be something you would see while sewing the item and what happened to Quality control??

  69. hrm's mom says:

    go grief “no way”

  70. werd says:

62 I came out and said it. I strapped on my industrial laptop condom and went to DS and replied (Norton Antivirus is worth every penny BTW). It’s one thin to defend someone, which is just fine. But she was very underhanded in how she did that, oh so innocently playing “devil’s advocate”. I’d have a lot more respect and would actually read what she wrote if she said “I’m the WAHM’s sister” and then went on to defend her!

  71. werd says:

PS Messy my lover I ❤ you!

  72. Messy says:

Ya know I wubs ya too!

  73. werd says:

If I wasn’t already knocked up, I’d say lets make girl babies!

  74. Yup says:

Interesting how 1/3 of her hc fb is from FFS items. Most people won’t complain if it’s free 😉

  75. Messy says:

Holy shit. I agree with ItsASnatch :swoon: Look outside! Is there fire and brimstone raining from the sky?

  76. Messy says:

http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7094974&postcount=90 Wouldn’t it help if I would include the links when I make the comment to start with? I’m a dumbass.

  77. werd says:

    LMAO Messy.

And sister replied. I despise when someone gets halfway through a post, then flies off the handle in a defensive response. Ugh.

  78. werd says:

oh well. I must step away from the dramaz and go take my kid to get a hot dog. She keeps coming up to me and yelling HAAA DAAAG in my ear and running away, LOL. She is feeling better. Keep up the good fight ladies!

  79. Messy says:

Shortcake comes along and posts to someone else whose custom item is falling apart ROFLMAO! She tells her the WAHM will be happy to fix it! I wanna ask her why one of her own customers had to jump through “white thread only” hoops to get her on board with repair/refund/sew a fucking decent seam? <—Which she has not done for her own customer yet…
    http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=731520

  80. Thud says:

folks have been scammed by miss shortcake who has had a habit of ‘not getting’ items. She also talks pretty big about being a business etc. around the forum, so I don’t think she can pull “I’m just a mom”.
No, a WAHM is not a machine, but in the case of sewing, she is USING a machine that is being operated hands on by a human, shouldn’t that be BETTER quality and control than mass produced stuff? Just sayin.

As for the giveaway beggar, sorry, that is a scam no matter how nicely people put it~ give me free stuff and I’ll write about you! And then their writing sucks? (for starters) I get a lot of these requests and they never com efrom people with big professional blogs~ usually new, crappy ones… ah, no thanks. And given that this chick responded as she did, I bet that WAHM is glad she steered clear!

  81. Rika says:

I’m a little unclear – has shortcake apologized?

  82. kimbella says:

82 – I’m sure she is saying that to try to save face. I’m trying really hard not to reply to her – don’t want to get banned.

  83. me me me says:

On one hand the blog screams scam to me.

On the other the WAHM didn’t need to say all that. Just a no thank you was good enough.

On the other hand (moms have 8 hands right) the blogger went kinda nutso publicly embarrassing the WAHM like that. It’s not liek the WAHM posted her offensive email publicly. It was sent in private and the blogger should have sent her nasty gram in email of she needed to get it off her chest.

Lastly, her blog is providing interesting background music for me to type too. 😉

I only know the WAHM a tiny bit so I have no idea what her personal beliefs are. Most likely we differ on most everything. I think this was a learning experience for her. We all say stupid stuff sometimes.

  84. mmspirit7 says:

i have to say i looked and saw links to other give aways and talks about other things but I didn’t see reviews i think the best she should have done was buy a product and review it and build up from there once people know her, her blog then wahms would be willing to give free things

  85. me me me says:

Awww the blogger took the entry down. I didn’t even get to read the comments. lol

  86. werd says:

I’m on the blog. I’m so proud!

  87. JustPeachy says:

Shes a fucking moron. She took it down because I commented rofl. Shes like oh well its my blog I can say what I want. Thats true but derrrrrrrr who trusts reviews made by a crazy ass twat who gets upset over rejection.

  88. JustPeachy says:

    Where at werd?

  89. werd says:

88 basically I posted exactly what I posted here, and Peach had similar choice words for her as well. So she took the blog down and backpedaled, giving us hand slaps for calling her on her bullcrap. What a piece of work!!

  90. werd says:

this one, I’m madebymommy but they deleted the damn thread! I wanted to see if munchkinflame had more to say, lol.

  91. hrm's mom says:

yeah that is crap that they deleted it, no one said who it was!! I love that CDN will call people out for not being honest and I think that the person who attempted to sew those boxers should be called out!!

  92. werd says:

I’m sure I got a strike for that one too. Oh well. This is me caring. See it?!

  93. Messy says:

They deleted it!?!?!?!?!?!?! I leave for a few minutes to attend to real life and take a linguistics exam and come back to it being GONE! WTF? I am sure Shortcake whined it off there… Oh well, we know it was her!!! And guess where I won’t be shopping?

  94. werd says:

I know Messy. Lesson #25354.A – do not leave to go to Friendly’s to get your kid a hot dog for dinner, in the midst of DS dramaz. It will be POOF gone when you get back!

It may or may not have been my ault because I said 95% of people who posted to the thread knew who the WAHM was by simply searching DS. But duh, do they not realize the super sleuths they have in their midst?!

  95. Messy says:

My thoughts is that if the WAHM (SHORTCAKE!!!) did not see anything wrong with two pics and the others were over stitiching :::coughbullshitcough::: then what was she ashamed of? Come right out and scream to the masses that THIS WAS HER WORK AND FUCK THOSE WHO THINK WHITE THREAD ISN’T APPROPRIATE FOR GREEN VELOUR BOXERS!!! But noooooo she has to hide behind her shitty work and hope nobody figures out it is her…

  96. DSDM2 says:

She is a shady wahm. The tension IS OFF. It is obvious, and it is here for all to see. She is tagged in the post.

  97. Rain Cloud says:

I do not usually comment on these types of things but……… I am only a little surprised by this whole thing. I once received a trade from Shortcake and what I made was so nice and pretty (I thought) but what I got in return was the fugliest, cheapest things I’ve ever seen! I promptly seam ripped those babies and made something pretty instead!

  98. Sam says:

Dude, after seeing that maybe I can be a WAHM and sell my stuff on hc or etsy….

  99. Messy says:

#101 No, sell on DS where all shitty WAHMs are protected!!!

  100. mamapixie says:

I don’t get the “only white thread” shit, go to Joann’s when thread is 50% off, and stock up. Duh.

You know, my sewing is mediocre at best, and it does not look like that, I’d stop sewing, and adjust my tension, change needles, etc. Especially if I was doing it for money, which I don’t(and have never even considered). If I do make something the wrong size for my son, which I recently did when trying out some new patterns, I send the items out FFS.

  101. amessymama says:

Crap I wanted to go back and ask munchkinflame if she thought the WAHSister actually did a good job. If she saw any flaws? Since she went on about her right to voice her opinion and all.

I sure as heck ain’t buying from her or her sis.

To all those others that have gotten crap from shortcake, is it too late to leave appropriate FB?

  102. mamabear says:

(off topic… kind of) are people still having virus issues on DS? I’ve moved to CDN.com and Clothlove.com but I want to click the links people post here. Just don’t want the viruses that come along. So, tell me, is it safe??

  103. AshleyB says:

NO clue if it’s safe at DS or not…but that is crappy sewing. I don’t see how that is acceptable!!

  104. alison says:

LOL, Messy. She’s not allowed to out herself in those T&F threads. Yet another dumbass DS rule.

  105. mamabear says:

UGH, maybe i’ll just risk it.

how can ds protect this kind of nonsense? i guess it’s just because they don’t care but…. man. that is just really terrible.

  106. alison says:

The no WAHM-outing rule happened about a year ago I think. Or was that the no WAMH-bashing? Or are they the same? So many nos to keep track of. It’s ridiculous really, but it makes for good stuff here.
    😉
(I have a Mac, so I can’t comment on the virus. I seem to be, happily, immune.)

  107. Messy says:

#109 HURRY! Click your heels three times; turn around in 2 circles ~slowly~; throw 1.38 tsp EXACT of salt over your left shoulder onto a fish on a wooden cutting board ~don’t forget it!~ and stand on one foot singing the national anthem in French… Follow exactly, because that knocking on wood thing doesn’t work for DS…

  108. hrm's mom says:

haha Messy that is so funny!

  109. Aj says:

I am still confused as to why the inside of those boxers look like the back of my grandmas velvet curtains???? Who would want to wear those?

Oh, and messy, I ❤ your lo wanting hot dogs!!!!!!

  110. nini02 says:

112 – That’s how all the OBV I have looks on the other side too. It’s not as soft as the good side of course, but definitely soft enough to be worn next to the skin. That being said, I really want to make myself some inside-out OBV pants one of these days….

  111. an AK mama says:

I have a pair of OBV yoga pants that are like that too. They’re quite comfy even though the pile is on the outside.

That said. Once we gwt moved and I have time to sew again I’m making myself some double sided ones.

  112. haha says:

#112 It’s the polyester backing that most bamboo velour has to stabilize it and keep it together!

  113. alison says:

    mmmm… polyester… schweaty…

    😀

  114. theinvisible says:

I would think that someone would want velour because of how it feels, not necessarily how it looks. It surprises me that products would be made with the soft part outside and whatever that is inside. Double-sided would be a good idea but no way would I want something like that against my skin while the soft part was making a fashion statement.

  115. naturalmamadot says:

    ditto #117

  116. werd says:

Peachy, did you see you got a response from the blog owner? I commented and gee, she turned on her comment moderation. Shocking. You got to her, lol.

  117. Aj says:

Oooh, can’t wait to get on her custom list… Anybody with a sewing machine… http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=727609

  118. me says:

I got super wonky stuff that didn’t fit from her, too but it was a trade and no one would have cared about it.

Have you seen her sewing room? She has freakin everything and tons of it. Why do all that if you don’t do basic things well? I mean theres got to be something there, kwim?

  119. JustPeachy says:

I saw it werd and I commented so at least she will see it. That girl is a fucking idiot and I hope her “review” blog crashes and burns.

  120. JustPeachy says:

Can you tell I harbor some animosity towards this dumb twit?

  121. JustPeachy says:

OMG 120! Seriously can you get any cheaper then Joanns?

  122. Aj says:

I know right?!?! And then callamama (or whatever her name is) responds that she gets her fabrics at Walmart. Really, do you think you should be giving advice dead grandma blanket lady?

  123. amessymama says:

Camallama forgot to say she scours the local old folk’s home on trash day for cheap supplies.

  124. Sharpie says:

Wow I love her blog response to your posts:

Do most people not understand what a blog is?

Apparently not, so let me explain it to you. A blog consists of someone’s thoughts and opinions. It consists of things that they want to say, because it is their blog. It really isn’t that hard to understand? So if you would honestly like for me to solely write a blog consisting of things that you, the reader, approves of only, then you are sadly sadly mistaken. Seriously folks, is it so incredibly wrong to have your very own blog where you can place, write, post, blog, bitch, moan, piss off, and do whatever the shit you want? Really it isn’t that hard to simply NOT click on my blog. I know I know, it’s hard because you became a follower for a giveaway, and cannot help yourself but to create an entirely new profile in order to let me know what your brilliant little mind thinks of me, and there isn’t much I can do about it. But like I’ve said a million times. There are sooooooo many more things you can worry about in this world. Take the Pig flu for instance! Honestly, as much as you’d love to think otherwise, if you didn’t come to my blog, you wouldn’t be missed my friend.

I love how she tells her readers that they can f-off and she doesn’t care. She’s really going to real in the WAHM free samples when they read that she doesn’t actually give a shit if people read her reviews. Fucking loser! Someone needs to tell her if you are gonna put it online people are gonna think and respond however they damn well want. I really wish “the last blog on earth” was the one created before hers because the internet needs to be spared from twatwaffle.

  125. Sharpie says:

    * that twatwaffle

  126. Megan says:

I had a large custom transaction with Joanna about 7-8 months ago, and was really please with everything- CS, workmanship, dye, everything. It’s so sad to hear that so many people have received shoddy items from her. I can I can just say that I’m glad my order was flawless. 😀

As for the link in 120, my gosh, and I feel like a cheap-o sometimes because I get my fabrics from JoAnns 99% of the time, rather than the designer websites. =-X

  127. JustPeachy says:

Thats the point I was trying to make to her Sharpie but apparently shes too big of a douche bag to get it. It was really fun poking the bear tho LOL.

  128. JustPeachy says:

I got a new monster??????? Mine looks like its going to eat somebodys face.

  129. werd says:

yeah she went all defensive – I thought I put some really good constructive criticism on there, I didn’t even snark at her but clearly she can dish it out but not take it. What a prize.

  130. werd says:

127 yeah, a PERSONAL blog is great for all that. But when you want to create some sort of business from that blog, a certain degree of professionalism and etiquette is required, which she fails to understand. Speshul.

Can I just tell you I am having the worst day?! I just got off the phone after 2 hours being alternately talked at like I’m a 2 year old and new to the language, and put on hold by my insurance company regarding an accident that happened 3 months ago. They flat out denied my new carseat reimbursement after they told me they would cover it no problem and to submit the receipt, which I did.

Insurance is the biggest scam in the world, aside from college. Sheesh. i had my first hormonal pregnant lady meltdown on the phone with claims rep #445454 of the day, too. poor guy.

  131. theinvisible says:

Camallama giving advice on where to buy (find) fabric. I think I may be speechless.

  132. Sharpie says:

Werd, if I give you the number to my phone/internet provider do you think you could have a jumbo hormonal pregnant woman meltdown on them? They’ve been overcharging us 100 + bucks a month for 5 months and tell us every time we call that it is fixed but it never is. My DH is going to have an aneurism if the bill arrives messed up again.

  133. speechless says:

#129, I’m in the same boat as you. I have ordered many, many times from Joanna and NEVER had a single issue. Once I measured wrong and knew it was my fault as I kept a copy of the measurements I sent AND ok’d them on the invoice, and she offered to remake the item for free at no charge. She makes 90% of my daughters clothing and it lasts(she is very hard on clothes). I would be very interested to hear the other side of the story(because we all know there is always another side). And would love to see pics of the whole item. As a seamstress myself, though not in the cloth diaper of clothing market, I would assume if the tension is off there that it would be wonky all over?? Why not show more pics?
To the previous posters who have had problems, were the issues ever taken up with her? I know she does a series of testing on her products and relies solely on feedback from those items. If you fail to leave appropriate feedback or contact her if an issue arises, why bring it up now? If you choose to keep silent when you know there is a problem(that could be an isolated incident) you are denying her the opportunity to fix the problem and make sure it does not occur again.
The original customer who posted the pictures and original thread mentioned that she was in contact with Joanna and the issue was being resolved; so why assume that she isnt doing everything in her power to replace the flawed item?
I guess at times it is much easier to jump on the lynch mob bus and pray you dont hang an innocent person.
BTW I have a shirt I bought for my daughter at a very expensive store. She wore it once and we noticed a seam was not stitched and was fraying. The store would do nothing about it bc it had been worn. I know many WAHMs who would still repair the item, Joanna included. That, in my opinion, is the mark of a great WAHM. But no one can fix a problem they dont know about.

  134. Jay says:

Ugh! Our cable company over charges us every month too! Every month they say the have it fixed but the next month we get a super high bill.

  135. werd says:

LMAO sure, I’m in a “LET IT ALLLLL OUT” kinda mood. OMG. I hate how no one can do their job, seriously. Do you have Time Warner? TOTALLY sounds like them!

  136. screenname says:

    #126 – LMAO!!!

#133 – Tell them that you read the NHTSA guidelines. All 5 minor accident guidelines must be met in order to deny reimbursement for a new car seat. If ANYONE in the car has even a minor injury then you should get new car seats. We never went to the hospital or anything with our accident, just our chiro. And we got our reimbursement check last week for an accident at the end of March.

  137. Crazy Mama says:

Those are just bad! And the kicker is she’s been sewing children’s items for FOUR YEARS. I see a lot of wonky sewing in her shop, and that’s with the tiny pictures. OMG I HATE when people only post nearly thumbnail pictures of something they’re trying to sell.

  138. Messy says:

    http://www.saveaaliyah.com/about_us
OT: But for those afraid of DS STDs, here is something that was posted. It is horrendous about a little girl that is being abused and was taken from her mother and given to the perp. Go, read, someone somehwere can help them I hope and pray.

  139. werd says:

holy crap Messy. I’m sorry, but I would take her and disappear as quickly as possible.

  140. EM says:

For #120 and the comments towards that-

do people not realize that cheap fabric causes whatever you make to look El Cheapo?

I just don’t understand some people…but then again, if you want to buy scratchy cotton prints that aren’t printed very well, go ahead-you’re just weeding yourself out of my competition!

  141. Rika says:

I can see the long line of baby/mama companies and small businesses lining up to get their reviews next to Bukowski poems.

I hope her next entry is “The Shower” – it’s one of my favs! It’d be a great transition to like a baby big giveaway entry.

  142. Rika says:

    baby bib giveaway, rather.

  143. Messy says:

    Me too Werd :,(

  144. mmspirit7 says:

after the thing with grandpa hitting her she wouldn’t have gone back…how sad

  145. werd says:

139 I was injured, had cervical strain and they are still saying that because I carry comprehensive but not collision insurance, they aren’t responsible for replacing the car seat (even after the claims adjustor assured me in 2 seperate phone convos that they would, previously. She suddenly doesn’t remember saying that. convenient)

My insurance agent is going to go after the girl whose fault the accident was. I just get this feeling I will never see that $200 again.

I HATE STATE FARM. I’ve been a customer of theirs for 8 years, never had an accident, never gotten a ticket and pay on time every time, and this is how they help me.

  146. mmspirit7 says:

ok I hate I really do but I have a funny feeling about that blog I do sorry something about the story that I have read so far doesn’t sit right. sorry.

  147. werd says:

believe it or not, my dad has an in at 60 minutes, the news show. About 6 or so years ago, my dad contacted them and spoke with Mike Wallace and they actually came out and did a piece on the Oneida Indian Land Claim vs Landowners and my dad made friends with several of the producers. I’m wondering if I can give them the link and see if they can get in contact with the blog owner.

  148. werd says:

149 – I kinda get that feeling too. I just thought it was because I’m a naturally born cynic.

  149. mmspirit7 says:

glad i am not the only one I mean that there are many things like the kaylee story on doc phil and well just doesn’t sit right with me. I am not saying it’s not happening but for on I have never talked to a two year that says the things the mom states this one does. and i don’t know she says she’s fighting for her daughter well if she was then why didn’t it click sooner something was wrong?

  150. werd says:

I’ve been googling to get more info but I’m not finding anything legit on this… its seeming very fishy to me.

This is gonna sound totally lame but I just e-mailed that site to Dr. Phil. I’m so worried for that child I’m e-mailing everyone I can think of who could help. Wether it’s a scam or this is happening that little girl needs big time help!!

Oh and ITA agree Messy and Werd if that was my baby not only would I leave the country with her but I’d do so after killing that man and his father for hurting my child.

  158. Messy says:

#155 I did get the link off DS. It was posted there by someone else. I just C&Ped it over here because #1 it bothered me A LOT and #2 if anyone afraid of DS STDs could help those people, I wanted them to see it too~ just incase. It is heartbreaking. I can’t say it is true; but damn, I can’t say it isn’t and that is freaking heart breaking 😦

  159. Kapplenut says:

This does not surprise me. I also purchased from her long ago. She was nice and the communication was great, but she seriously needs to practice her sewing a LOT more before putting her stuff out there. I chalked it up to a lesson learned b/c I was fairly new.

  160. JustPeachy says:

I honestly cannot tell with that link as I have no sound and the kid and dad are at the edge of the frame. I do suggest fwding it to the authorities and possibly the FBI so they can sort it out. If this child is being abused we have a responsibility to help. If its a scam I hope these people go to hell for using a child for their own selfish needs.

  161. mmspirit7 says:

Just peach that’s my feeling. I mean I hope it’s not true because then those things weren’t done to her but for her to be used. I don’t know I am just being careful LOL

Anyways i am going to head to bed i don’t feel good and i was suppose to go out tomorrow but looks like i am not.

  162. speechless says:

Kapplenut-long ago meaning her over all talent and sewing could have improved since “long ago”???? I really do love how a handful of unhappy people who never bring a problem to the creator’s attention still feed the right to complain about the issue years after the fact:(
As I stated before I have been purchasing items from her for over 4 years, before she started selling online. I have seen her skill grow and flourish. She has started to branch out and get more creative since she purchased a decent machine not long ago and is no longer running on an antique.
Anyways, continue with the flaming, degrading and slander….Im actually kind of interested to see which poor, unsuspecting WAHM ends up in the hot seat next. I hope she handles all of your sh!t as well as Joanna has.

  163. Messy says:

#166 So, *exactly how do you know that that they never brought these problems to the “creator’s attention”? Oh, because you are either her or the sister. Yip. That sure helps out your business~ NOT. Get a life, grow up, and if you want to post over here defending yourself (or sister) then fess up. This reeks of the sister posting on the DS thread and not bothering to mention in her long winded delusional post anything about being the sister. Shady. Keep dragging her business down…

  164. Messy says:

  165. speechless says:

I am neither her nor her sister. In fact I do not even live in the same state as her. I am a satisfied customer, who is personally aware of more satisfied customers. But I’m not at all surprised that any remark made in her defense is shot down. After all, thats what this blog is about, right? Making more drama. Good luck with your endeavor, what ever that may be, “Messy”.

  166. speechless says:

And I’m only assuming that the problem was never brought to the creator’s attention. She has bent over backwards to send replacements when “I” measured wrong and has sent her tester items many times for free. She is very open to feedback of any sort and improving her products. So, yes, I find it very hard to believe that people would complain to her and she would do nothing about it.
But wait! Maybe, just maybe, she has 2 batches of items. The satisfied customers get all the good stuff and the “others” get the faulty products. That must be it.

  167. DSDM2 says:

Just to let you know, it isn’t slander #1 if it is true, and #2 if it is written.

Her work in that photo SUCKS. Really, it does. You can’t defend that. Hell, she even missed the edge of the material. The tension is wrong, and broken thread is NEVER ok.

Her sewing hasn’t improved much since those buyers bought if you ask me. I know how to sew. I am looking at photos of the products in her HC, and they are pretty bad. http://hyenacart.com/mothergoosedesigns/ and on DS http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=651240 http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=651251 They have uneven seams, the edges are non-symmetrical on the mama pads, the corners of her wetbags aren’t pushed out all the way, or aren’t sewn correctly (either way they are made wrong), you can see loose seams on the birthday hat, the gathering on the undies is wrong, the bands (waist and leg) are not sewn evenly, and I can keep going.

Her work is NOT up to par for WAHMs. She should not be selling this work. She REALLY needs to take some sewing classes.

  168. DSDM2 says:

I also forgot to mention, McCalls and KWIK Sew don’t allow you to sell things you made from their patterns… you know like aprons and such.

  169. speechless says:

I know for a fact that she does not use patterns. I sent her some my daughter liked once and she informed me that she could draft a pattern that was very similar and in my daughter’s size, but that she did not like using patterns. The patterns were returned to me unopened and the items she created were perfect and looked very similar to the pictures on the patterns. (Although they were different, because at my daughter’s request she was able to add ruffles). I cant say anything for her pictures elsewhere as I do not click on links. Her pictures on her store look like they need to be taken in better lighting, but the items do NOT look awful or like “cr@p”. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Ill just keep believing that I get all the “good” items:)~

  170. DSDM2 says:

Ok, after checking out her photobucket (http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/mothergoosedesigns) i have to say, mothergoosedesigns sucks worse than I thought. I don’t even know where to begin!

  171. DSDM2 says:

I have double checked your IP. You are either the sister, or the seller or something of the like. Your IP is from Marietta, GA. The SAME TOWN where she is located. So you have lied to us at least once. For me, everything you say is discounted now.

  172. DSDM2 says:

I take it back, I have confirmed that YOU ARE THE SELLER. Welcome Shortcake, did you bring your crayons? Will you be staying?

  173. magpiedpiper says:

    Shady!

  174. screenname says:

    Nice detective work DSDM2!

Shortcake, you are allowed to out yourself here and defend yourself. No need to pretend you’re something you’re not.

  175. Messy says:

DSDM2 YOU ROCK!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
FUCK OFF SHORTCAKE YOU SHADY LYING SCAMMING BITCH! Now, I’ll be back in a bit, when I get done directing everyone I can find on several different boards to come here and see Shortcake lying to try to make herself look good. P.A.T.H.E.T.I.C!!!

  176. Kimbella says:

    I’m sure she’ll deny it.

Maybe one of her “friends” is sitting outside her house with a laptop, borrowing her wireless connection. hehehe

  177. Messy says:

P.S. Shortcake: Take a look at your shitty stuff… People that don’t complain probably don’t want to hurt your feelings since you throw them out there like they should mean something in the WAHM. Look at it. LOOK! You can drag some people around by their ears and force them to pay for and keep your shitty white threaded mismatched bullshit of sewing rags. But you can’t keep people from talking about it! Go to an eye doctor. If you see nothing wrong with any of the pics this OP sent you, then you are not only stupid and a terrible sewer, you also have vision problems. Trust us, your shitty crappy stuff speaks for its self.
Moving on with my endeavor, “Messy” Bwahahahaha!!!

  178. Messy says:

#180 Hey, if she is letting “friends” use her wireless internet connection, perhaps she should let them use her sewing machine! The machine would go into convulsions if someone who knew how to use it and adjust the tension and make nice stuff touched it. Could you imagine what it would think if someone used matching thread??? It would probably short circuit!

  179. amessymama says:

182-The machine would experience its very first sewgasm!!

SInce your here Shortcake, please tell me why. Why white thread? Thread is available in an array of beautiful colors. I would imagine you could find any color your heart desired. Why do you desire white? Especially when you don’t sew very well. Psssst, it makes your mistakes even more noticable.

  180. amessymama says:

Ummm, that should be you’re, not your. 😀

  181. screenname says:

“Could you imagine what it would think if someone used matching thread??? It would probably short circuit!”

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!

  182. screenname says:

The white thread must be cheaper at Wal-Mart.

Seriously though, everytime you go to the fabric store just pick up thread that matches whatever fabric you buy that day. You probably won’t use the whole thing and after a while you’ll have a nice stash of matching thread built up.

  183. Messy says:

She is LAZY! She doesn’t want to have to change it because being a WAHM is a money making endeavor to her. She has no pride in her work, just a seeking for the all mighty dollar.

  184. Messy says:

    OMg #183 a sewgasm!!! ROFLMAO!

  185. speechless says:

Awww what a cute way to add to the drama. I never would have though of that. I’m out because obviously anything I say is biased. Its a shame peopel cant have opinions…Have fun bashing and lying. BTW im not shortcake.

  186. DSDM2 says:

Speechless, yes you are Shortcake. I have run your IP and cross checked it, there is NO DOUBT who you are.

You are the only one lying here.

  187. DSDM2 says:

If you want me to, I can post your IP and the CDN, DS, MisFit Moms, etc. mods can confirm it for everyone, is that what you want?

I have already confirmed the IP. We know who you are.

  188. DSDM2 says:

If I am not mistaken, http://www.amitymama.com mods and mothering.com mods post here too…

  189. Kimbella says:

    She changed her thread policy.

“White thread is standard on most hidden seams-such as inner leg seam on pants. If I have matching or coordinating thread I will use it, but some threads are not available in every color that i dye items. If I do not have matching or coordinating thread, i will try to locate some or order some. All marble dyed velour items with a natural base will be stitched in white or ivory thread.”

  190. DSDM2 says:

And are you sure that I am NOT a mod on one of those boards? Really sure? ;o) I KNOW who you are, and I can prove it if you want me to.

  191. Messy says:

C’mon Joanna, let’s post your IP number all over the place! Then people can know you troll for yourself. Guess the sister was busy this morning!!!

  192. Kimbella says:

I love how IPs can be tracked! 🙂

  193. DSDM2 says:

If the CDN owner would please log on Y!M and hit me up, I am DSDM2

    Thanks.

  194. Thud says:

Everyone has to start some where, Shortcake. But most people accept the criticism and improve, not just keep churning out the same errors.

Who uses only white thread? That just shows an obstinance to learn, to me.

And notice the happy customers who have paid and the unhappy people who have traded, that is kind of shady, no?

And the not receiving packages, demanding refunds etc. which seems to have been / or is a pattern.

Sounds like someone on the take, to me

  195. Messy says:

Shem ight have changed her thread policy, but that doesn’t make her stuff anything more than shit ran through a machine. She is a terrible sewer who honestly is only getting paid pitty money. If people put up with the crappy shit she sends out, or if they complain they get to hear her policies on thread and customs (which are totally on cue with her shitty work!) then she has excuses to drag them around, keep their money, fuck them over, and leave them with her shitty items. NICE.
ShortnFake, you need to take a few sewing classes and then learn to put your big girl panties on (ItsASnatch sells real big panties, but not big girl panties, HTH), and run your business as such. Otherwise, keep your shitty white thread to yourself along with the craptastic stuff you are mailing out!
BTB, you will be happy to know, there are tons of people opening and reading PMs, emails, and IMs laughing that you came here and did this!!! RIGHT ON CUE FOR A SCAMMER!!!

  196. DSDM2 says:

Why white thread you all ask? Her exact quote: “i love woolly nylon. its on clearance at my joann’s so i stocked up!!!! now i have to find something to do with the 50 spools of maxilock” http://www.clothdiapernation.com/vbforums/showthread.php?t=10817

  197. Messy says:

#200 Yup, it is all about $$$ for her. Screw the people that have to wear fucked up looking items, at least she gets to use her cheap ass clearance sale thread. Nice. Puke.
BTW, ShortnFake, a lot of WAHMs have come here, AS THEMSELVES, and told their side of the story. Honestly, when they come here sincerely to talk about it, the tide has changed to either an understanding of the WAHM or completely in her favor. There was a thread where the pics of the diapers looked soooo horrible that there was nothing the WAHM could say or do that would explain it; or so we though! It ended with her on a good note and people encouraging her to stay in business and all that! Honesty. Use it as much as you use white thread! Ok, no human can be that honest…

  198. mmspirit7 says:

what i don’t get if you don’t have custome thread to match dieing wouldn’t it work to make the item first then die it thous dieing the thread….i am not a dyer so i am not expert give me drawing and painting and I am better cooking and baking yep. sewing still taking classes.

  199. Kimbella says:

201, I was just thinking the same thing! When the WAHMs come her as themselves, it usually works out in their favor.

She could have come here and said that she had been sick, had morning sickness, was running low on sleep, etc, and that there was no excuse for the boxers looking like that, and that maybe using white thread wasn’t as good of an idea as she originally thought.

Then we would have been more open to listening to seeing her side.

Now all I can do is laugh and thank myself for not buying from her a few weeks ago when I was looking for mama cloth!

  200. DSDM2 says:

If I am not mistaken (I don’t do much dying) You can’t dye that type of thread b/c it is cheap.

  201. Messy says:

#203 I know for a fact she lost three orders of mama cloth over this. I was looking for more myself and recently had looked at both her DS page and her HC (I did not know they were the same person, not that it mattered). Now I know *exactly* how much she does not care about her products/customers/reputation and how creative she is in defending her shitty work when called out on it; I won’t be buying from her, nor will several other people. Sad sad sad.

  202. What a Wanker says:

This stupid, I will need custom thread thought of hers is, well, stupid. Thread does not have to match exactly, it can be close and look fantastic. What an idiot.

  203. mmspirit7 says:

204 ahh ok thanks. man I have a box of 25 threads and I am still in class (my machine came with free classes I know the basics and used to make civil type dresses) i know you want good thread it’s what hold it together and couple bucks more pays in the end
    *-+-

  204. mmspirit7 says:

    207 opps dd was helping

  205. EM says:

the dyes used to dye natural fibers won’t dye poly threads or materials.
So it won’t dye the white thread.

  206. mmspirit7 says:

ahh thank you I learned something new today but man I have a website with 100s of threads and they aren’t badly priced and a good quality too. I just don’t understand the white only thing

  207. mmspirit7 says:

sorry but these don’t look like bad prices and I have heard nothing but great things about this company and I love there fabric too (i got the link from a friend who has been sewing for a long time)

    http://www.connectingthreads.com/essential+quilting+thread+sets_EL600901.html

  208. mmspirit7 says:

I learned not to use nylon thread in my sewing class because it breaks down in the heat. Is this wrong?

  209. JustPeachy says:

I use a semi transluscent polyester thread that doesn’t show up quite as badly as white thread. But then I dont sew for a living so I guess it really doesn’t matter.

  210. mmspirit7 says:

I don’t know I am just going buy what I was taught and what I was taught works in my machine. it’s just odd to me is all

  211. naturalmamadot says:

haha I am thinking I could make some money being a WAHM, Im better than all the ones showcased here…its all about money right? And apparently ppl will buy anything sooo here I come HC and Etsy (totally kidding, gag me with a spork if I try to open any wahm stores any time soon)

  212. coffee drinker says:

you dont have to match thread and fabric perfectly, somtimes using a slightly lighter shade really looks nice. I personally always use white thread on the inner seems, then the matching thread when topstitching. do sometimes also just use whitem well, because it just looks fine. Had her sewing ben better, the white thread may not have even been an issue, but the sloppy lines and loose ends really make it stand out.

  213. coffee drinker says:

sorry for the typos, typing one handed.

  214. DSDM2 says:

Hmmm, now that she is caught, someone doesn’t have the balls to be honest.

  215. Messy says:

Rockstarmommy05 is double selling stuff and disappearing! Wowza!
Original listing with some of the buyers questioning: http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=713937

    Then the complaint:
    http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=732904

  216. Yup says:

Are these the same boxers? I’m still shocked the only thing the OP complained about was the sewing. Or are they supposed to be tie-dyed w/ uneven legs?

  217. Yup says:

And you can get thread to match EVERY packet of color from Dylon….which the shorts look to be a lovely shade of $1.74 Dylon forest green.

  218. Megan says:

Agh, this is so sad. She’s always seemed like such a sweet, stand-up mama in the last two years that I’ve “known” her online. How crummy. So she needs work perfecting her craft, and not all of her PB pics are of stellar quality. That sucks. What really sucks to me is that DSDM2 confirmed that she’s here, posting as some one else, and lying about it. 😦 I’ve been the object of persecution on this blog before, when I was a raging, hormonal pregnant woman, and freaked out on DS, but I came on as myself, said my piece, and never looked back. I don’t know what dreadful things were said, and I don’t want to, either. 😛 We’re big girls, and when we flub up, we need to own up. Sad to see a mama go down the tubes like this.

  219. haha says:

Her ideas were cute…unfortunately not her sewing. What I wonder is we always sell the good stuff and our kids get the crappy stuff….so what are her kids wearing?

  220. try me, i'm new! says:

her photobucket is coming up as private for me…..has she changed the settings?

  221. Messy says:

LOL She passworded her shitty work so people could not see the craptastic pics of the shit they would be getting!!! So… She scams, trolls, and screws people royaly! What a WAHM!
:::Secretly wondering if ItsASnatch will be stealing this WAHMs “white thread only crapshittyastic OBV boxers” or are there actually products shitty enough that not even ItsASnatch will steal? Hmmm:::

  222. coffee drinker says:

Peach- i need to ask you something, can I email you?

  223. DSDM2 says:

So I guess she doesn’t have the balls to come back?

The only thing I HATE and WILL NOT put up with here is faking an identity/lying about it. She is a liar, a horrible WAHM, and to me she is only a step from being a thief.

  224. werd says:

holy crap! I go out for the day to celebrate my birthday with my parents and come back to this. Seriously, I’m just going to chain myself to the laptop from now on. What a clusterfuck!

  225. Messy says:

Werd, one of my bestsest friend’s birthday is today too!!! WOOHOO HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

  226. werd says:

Thanks messy – mines actually May 2nd but my parents are working and we will be away. I’m the big 2 – 5 lol

  227. werd says:

zomg hell’s kitchen time PEACE OUT!

  228. Messy says:

OMg! Me too! Hells Kitchen ROCKS! LOVE IT! We veg to it every week!!! I have no idea why this week even has a show. Just send Andrea home and be done with it ROFLMAO! Go Danny!!! Woot!!!

  229. AshleyB says:

Ugh…posing as someone else?! That’s pretty shady…especially for a WAHM.

  230. Kapplenut says:

Wow. You’re seriously calling me out, Shortcake????? I bought from you abt a year and a half ago. When they arrived, I thought the colors were nice enough, but the sewing (specifically serging) and completely uneven edges weren’t anything better than something I could make. (That’s not saying a lot for you, sweetheart. You see, I order from other people b/c I can’t sew worth a shit! I readily admit that, and I don’t even try to pretend otherwise. Perhaps you should do the same.) Being new to the world of cloth pads, I didn’t really have anything to which I could compare them, so rather than make a stink about something I didn’t know all that well, I just quietly gave them away to someone else who needed them. I never ordered from you again, or recommended you to anyone. That’s how you lose customers. Well, that and lying on a public forum and getting caught…

  231. turkey lurkey says:

Whoa. She has taken down all the pix from her Photobucket. She hasn’t unlisted all her Etsy pictures yet if you still want to take a look.

  232. insomiac says:

HA! holy crap I was about to click out the the thread when I got to DSDM2’s mad detective skilz. That was awesome >:D

Not to be a sewing snob but that is some of the worst sewing I have seen. I am not even going to call her a wahm because it gives us a bad name. Bored mommies that sell that kind of wanna be shit piss me off. If someone bought that crap as their first purchase of a handmade/homemade product, they would run screaming and never realize the actual QUALITY items that are out there.
And then to come here and fake who she is to try and talk about how great she is.HOLY SHIT.

    What an asshat.

  233. StacEy says:

I figured speechless was lying when she said something about buying from her before she sold online. If you live in a different state…how would that work? Have some pride in what you do shortcake, even your pictures are terrible!

Yeah!! Unless they were friends which wasn’t stated.

  235. Messy says:

#236 It is easier to fuck someone over if they don’t have pics of your horrendous items to start with. She boggles my mind! It is crazyrabidstupid to come here and pretend to be her own customer giving herself all those pats on the back when anyone can plainly see that her sewing skills are mediocre at best. I could see where she is on the path to getting in over her head as people complain and she needs to refund/remake and then starts just scamming from the start. People were nice because she was new, she was pregnant, she was emotional; well, that does not last forever!

  236. werd says:

232 Messy yeah she got kicked off Hell’s Kitchen! We like Danny too, he had such a bad day!

  237. werd says:

back to the saveaaliyah site – entry #162 in the petition the mom started. This story gets weirder at every turn – I reported the site to the Roseville CA police department and got a response – they have sent police to the house to investigate the allegations.

1:56 pm PDT, Apr 30, Ann Cloter, Texas
I am not really signing this joke of a petition, but I thought everybody should know it is a SCAM!!!!! Read Further 4-30-09 This goes out to everybody who is concerned with situation pertaining to the save Aaliyah website. If you are giving money to the people behind this website, you are being ripped off and fooled into believing a person who has been diagnosed as narcissistic, delusional, and borderline schizophrenic. There are numerous things that this mother neglected to tell you along with her false tales of child molestation. Yeah there is a video of a little girl talking about daddy’s worm. If you listen closely she is talking about a toy or character from Little Einstein’s, one of her many favorite cartoons at the time. Where are the rest of the videos she submitted to court? Why isn’t she showing the countless hours of video of her coaching the poor little girl? The court appointed attorney for the little girl made her stop video taping the child after viewing the tapes. I’ll bet she hasn’t told you the whole story. Has she mentioned that the molestation accusations only started after her numerous other failed accusations of physical and mental abuse of the mother, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, then to having a meth lab in his house, and onto physical abuse of the child and on and on. When all of these did not work in obtaining full custody, guess which road she headed down. You guessed it child molestation. In most cases of molestation, the father is presumed guilty until proven innocent. This case was no different. This poor guy has gone through hell trying to keep his and his family’s good name in the community. He has been forced by the courts to see every type of psychological professional in the county. He has jumped unprotested through every hoop the courts saw fit. The police department conducted a full investigation, the DA looked into it. As a result of the vindictive nature of the mother, he has become the single most investigated person in the county pertaining to accusations of child molestation. All found to be untrue. The funny thing, is that he originally wanted a 50/50 custody and felt it was in the child’s best interest to have equal time with both parents. She has created the position she is in now. How many mother’s loose custody and have only 2 hours a week of supervised visits? How many real mothers would post pictures and videos of their child for the world to think that she is a victim of sexual abuse? How would you like to grow up with everyone thinking you are a victim. Has she told all of you people that she seduced a police officer that she intentionally picked up in a bar to try to gain an alli inside the department that was conducting the investigation? I’ll bet she didn’t tell her soon to be husband that one considering they were together at that point. She probably hasn’t old everyone that she used to stalk him late into the night, with the little girl in the car, following him around and then would call the police and report him as a drunk driver to get him pulled over, all to no avail. Did she mention that she has milked every conceivable county agency for free public services. Once the funds ran out or the agency put a stop to her manipulation or unwillingness to cooperate, she just moved on to the next one and started all over again. Has she told you that she committed welfare fraud by still collecting even though she lost custody of the child. This woman is a drain on the public resources that our tax dollars fund. The following are the hard facts leading to this point. 11 CPS reports “unfounded” 2 MDIC evaluations “unfounded” Police Investigation “unfounded” District Attorney’s Investigation “unfounded” Multiple trips to Emergency Room taken by her mother—no results ever produced Multiple full body X-rays while in her mother’s care—no results ever produced Multiple Doctor visits while in mother’s care—no results produced Intense mental evaluations of both mother and father- father found to be a fit parent-mother found to have several mental disturbances and not fit to parent. In home evaluations of interactions between father and daughter- No detection of abuse present Are you really going to believe that the countless trained professionals that have looked into this case as a result of the mother’s accusation are not doing their job? These people see victims every day and know the signs of abuse. All of the court appointed professionals and law enforcement personnel has found that there are absolutely no signs of sexual abuse and the relationship between the father and daughter is nothing but normal. The only reason she is now going full force with her campaign to get her child back is to exploit money out of people who are willing to believe her made up stories. I am sure she loves her daughter and misses her, but remember it is her fault she lost custody by lying about the sexual abuse and having several mental issues. She is committing fraud as the child already has a court appointed attorney. The mother has had at least three attorneys throughout this saga has fired them all when they told her she had no case. She probably is broke now that the welfare has stopped and she is unwilling to take responsibility and better her financial situation. The mother did not seem so concerned with being a mom during these last eight months while she was out clubbing and partying every night. It is funny that she makes references to the Casey Anthony case when she fits the exact profile of that despicable woman. She is the type of person that would harm her child to get back at the father, it is already evident with her blatant exploitation of the child to scam good people out of their hard earned money. Not to mention the lasting effects on the child by growing up thinking she is a victim. How can a mother do that to her child? I guess she has to pay for her child support and supervised visits somehow. I wish I was creative enough to make this stuff up but unfortunately it is all true. I could go on and on but I think enough of a pattern has emerged for you to draw own conclusions from this point moving forward. I sincerely hope you have not donated money to this person. If you have please report her to the proper authorities so hopefully you can get your money back. If you are one of the people helping her in her campaign, take a good look at the person you are calling a friend. Do you really know her? Did she tell you the whole story? Are you willing to be an accomplice to fraud for her? Are you willing to face child exploitation charges for her? In your heart, do you really believe that she is telling the truth?

Said person also posted that on DS and a few other places.

  239. werd says:

oh really?! Wow. This whole thing is strange.

  240. DSDM2 says:

You can still see her mothergoose design photos on her HC and on the threads on DS. They suck.

Maybe I will save a few and post them…

  241. DSDM2 says:

Looks like http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/mothergoosedesigns/ only has about 1/4 of the photos in it now.

  242. DSDM2 says:

She was on DS at 9:45amEST today…

  243. Messy says:

Werd, someone from an organization helping the mom has now posted on DS that the blog owner and the mom’s atty determined that the long post saying it wasn’t real was from the father :o( We all know how those who hide who they are and pat themselves on the back are sludge buckets. That letter and then what is going on now on DS makes me so upset for the little girl!!! They go to court with a new judge on Wednesday :::praying:::

  244. werd says:

I was really hoping this was a hoax 😦

  245. Sharpie says:

You’d swear Korin was sewing a rubber band sometimes instead of interlock.

  246. turkey lurkey says:

SMALL flaws?! Are you freakin’ kidding me?

  247. Messy says:

Korin and Joanna went to the same sewing school??? How cool is that? Now, will Korin go to get her degree furthered at ScamMaster’s Academy like ShortnFake did?

  248. amessymama says:

I just got an e-mail from Jo-ann’s Fabric. On May 9 they are offering 50% off on sewing classes. I think I need to forward it to a couple of WAHMs.

Oh and you get a free spool of white thread. 😉

  249. Bloggitybloggity says:

250- LMAO. Another one bites the dust.

I desperately want to see an actual “first quality” item from Connorsmama. All her crap on FSOT either looks like that or has some sort of “I just got done re-sewing the hem/ waistband/ entire-thing-together” comment along with the post.

    It’s ridiculous.

My seconds showed up like “fourths”… or as I prefer to think of them as: a “sew-your-own-damn-pants” kit.

Oh how I wish I’d known the what I know now. People need to stop leaving positive pity feedback and start leaving accurate feedback. For really realz.

  250. CDNation says:

Just verifying that the ip does match Shortcake on CDN. So who’s being truthful?

  251. me me me says:

222-I agree this is sad. 😦 I did a trade with Joanne like 2 yrs ago. I believe it was for OBV undies and she sent me a dress for my then 2 yr old. She’s in a 5t now and it finally fits here. But aside from being ginormous, it’s sewn OK. I’ve always seen her as being nice so this is all shocking to me. Sigh, I always want to see the best in people. 😦 Really one of the last WAHM’s I’d expect to see being torn a new one on here.

  252. me me me says:

    *her not here

  253. Messy says:

Am I allowed to say ItsASnatch on CDN? LOL

  254. Messy says:

    Got my answer! TY!

  255. me says:

250- Well and others posting about it. Does the wording sound like she was trying to be nice about it in words, but didn’t mean the nice part? “I bought these as first quality, but look at the sewing flaws.”

  256. lisa says:

I thought the same thing 261

  257. diudiaole says:

wow I go away for a few days and the drama explodes.. lol
