DS has viruses – And Juan and Lee are nowhere to be found for days… how convenient.

malicious software trying to install on my computer while surfing on DS 2x today…

Who should I contact about this? I had to run a sweep of my anti-virus program to remove a trojan horse this morning, and I was just notified that “Mal/JSShell-B” was trying to install a few minutes ago. Having to remove possible remnants of it now. Both of these occurances happened while on the new posts area. I didn’t even click a link!

Anyway, I don’t know much about this stuff. I thought it was worth mentioning to an admin or a mod in case they should be aware of it! Thx!

UPDATE: This is what my antivirus software said about the malware:
“Category: Behavioral; Risk Rating: 5 (out of 5); Description: This item exhibited a behavior or characteristic commonly associated with spyware or other malware. It does not match a know definition, but could be an emerging threat not yet documented.

Re: malicious software trying to install on my computer while surfing on DS 2x today.

No, right now no screenshots are necessary. Lee is the one looking into this but he won’t be back until Monday. I think he may already have found the culprit.
  1. DSDM2 says:

How can Lee know who/what it is without looking into it? Did they allow it on purpose?

  2. Ashley says:

I have had it pop up 2x’s a day for two days now

  3. mickee311 says:

I dunno but I had my virus protection catch several things on there while just surfing. Not logged in, of course, since I’m banned. ha. Fuckers. Serves them right. Take DS down from the inside.

  4. Ashley says:

    LMAO at #3

  5. The Original Ashley says:

Those fuckers crashed quite a few people’s computers yesterday. I can’t ever click another link there. Lee knows what he’s doing. Don’t let him fool you.

  6. Sarah says:

Hmmm…now I understand why the first time I ever heard of DiaperSwappers it was from someone calling it VirusSwappers. But this is the first time I’ve seen admin admit that there actually are viruses coming from DS.

And LMFAO at “he won’t be back until Monday”

Good to see that the site owners care about their users.

  7. computer question says:

So, how do people know they got the virus? Most virus software scanners would pick it up right?

  8. Rika says:

Yep. I just got a warning for “mal hifrm-2” when I just now visited and saw the downtime message.

  9. Looks like DS is trying to figure something out.

Re: malicious software trying to install on my computer while surfing on DS 2x today.
The problem with the spyware/malware has been traced to ads displaying
on DiaperSwappers. These ads are delivered by a third party company.
The DS site is not infected with any viruses, although it may appear
that way when you are browsing the forum. We are currently looking for
any ads that may be triggering the pop ups and problems.

One of the suspected ads is a ‘Vonage’ ad. If you continue to see problems with the your anti-virus reporting problems from DS please post in this
thread, which we will be monitoring closely. Any screen shots you can
take of the site when a problem occurs would be really helpful. We
have a number of people actively trying to reproduce the problem.

At this point, it’s possible the offending ad has been pulled from the network, but we cannot confirm that at this time.

We apologize for the frustration and inconvienence this has caused. Our goal is to provide a safe and friendly environment on DiaperSwappers.”

  11. not tellin says:

Lee’s goal is NOT to provide a safe and friendly environment, it is to make money, plain and simple. If he wasnt so money hungry, he wouldnt be using an advertising program that has viruses, and we all know this isnt a new development.

  12. AshleyB says:

Yup, I had a few blocked from DS. Blech. I’m glad I’m not a site supporter…if I was PAYING and got a virus, I would be LIVID.

  13. ArmiMommi says:

I’m beyond pissed at this nonsense now. If they were sooo concerned for our “safe environment”, they would just shut off the ads until they figured out where it is coming from. I had it attack my computer tiday, but my antivirus caught it, plus i know not to click the close icon on it to shut it down. What a bunch of liars!

  14. werd says:

yep – I got hit with a trojan and EVERY day I get an alert from Norton with tracking cookies to clean up. It’s all about that money, honey…

  15. DSDM2 says:

  16. Notice how “Admin” posted that response?? Not Juan or Lee??

  17. JustAMama says:

Boy am I glad I’m not around for this – sounds like a bitch that I don’t want/need/feel like dealing with!
On one hand, I want to say something like “I can’t believe they’re not dealing with this properly” but on the other hand.. I totally believe it. ROFL

  18. Tooters says:

two days latter and it’s still a pain in the ass!

  19. sassy1 says:

yeah this shit happened to me a few times.

those bitches (lee that is) at DS need to fix that crap. i had to shut down my window as soon as my software alerted me. it has happened more so when i do NOT log into DS directly and alot on the FSOT pages.

  20. sassy1 says:

oh and speaking of ads, did anyone see the one that had a sillouette of a stripper last week?

that was fun, thankfully it was nothing more than a background image, but none the less, it was there.

  21. appletree602 says:

I can’t even log onto ds- it just starts downloading an anti-spyware program as soon as I do. Then it closes down, when I try to stop it… Hope they’re losing lots of money, the greedy bastards…

  22. Frazzled says:

I’m curious what OS everyone is running while having problems with DS viruses.

  23. mysterymommy says:

I haven’t had an issue one. We have Vista and I run Mozilla with ad block plus.

  24. DSDM2 says:

I know some people are on MACs.

XP with FF and ABP is doing it too.

  25. IrishMama says:

I got redirected when I logged on and some “anti-spyware” started trying to download. WTF?!? I closed the browser ASAP, and I don’t *think* anything got through. But seriously, those asshats need to stop using advertising that has viruses and porn. I’m just glad I was on my work computer and not my personal one.

  26. AshleyB says:

    Virus still there 😦

  27. The ORIGINAL Just Me says:

Wow, that’s great!!! If Lee really cared about anyone but himself, or anything but money then they would remove those dumb ads!

  28. matildasmum says:

What browser are you all using? I’m using Firefox and AdBlock Plus and haven’t has a single issue. I also run McAfee and AdAware.

  29. Michelle says:

I’m not having problems either. I’m using Firefox and adblock plus. My virus scanner or spysweeper hasn’t picked up anything.

  30. IrishMama says:

I was using IE when it happened to me, with Symantec Antivirus and Websense installed (work computer). But from what I understand, the virus is only in one or some of the different ads that rotate on DS. So it’s kind of luck of the draw on whether that ad is the one you get at a particular time.

  31. just another lurker says:

It is still there. I’ve gone to DS twice today and both times that virus immediately pops up. I’m using Firefox. Yeah, won’t be going there again for a long time.

  32. AshleyB says:

    STILL there

  33. DSDM2 says:

I LOVE this comment by Mommyof4es:
Re: malicious software trying to install on my computer while surfing on DS 2x today.

“I need Lee’s address to send my tech bill to him. This is flippin’ outrageous. ”

  34. The Bored Bitch says:

This is not a new problem. Its been like this for months for many people.
