Censored
Well so there was a thread about a certain companies commercial that was put up the other day, and i made a post about the other commercials that that particular company has, and how the company is turning into a monopoly, and how most people are not aware of what that company does, and that their commercials lead people to falsely believe that they are an environmentally/societal conscious corporation……..anyways the mods removed my post! Things are getting a little to controlled in here. I think that on a forum like this that there should be no reason why we as consumers cannot post our feelings about products…..this whole thing has gotten WAY out of hand! I know the rule was put into place for the WAHMs but really does a comment about a multi billion dollar corporation need to be monitored? :yuck:

Re: Censored
We have a rule here that there is to be no bashing of WAHMs. You can find it in the FAQs (at the top of the page). This rule also applies to other companies, no matter how large they might be or how much you may disagree with their policies.

Re: Censored
:hide: Most mommas came on DS to learn about cloth diapers.. but MANY of us have learned MUCH MUCH more. We have learned about AP, being thrifty, product options that support WAHM’s, how to deal with inlaws & DH’s… and some of us have learned about companies that we had NO CLUE had unethical practices. Some of us have learned things that roll off our backs and don’t change our habits as consumers…but some of us have learned that there are companies who completely misrepresent themselves or their mission. We also learn about companies who have business practices to RAVE about.

Not every one of us has time to google every place we shop to see if they’ve done anything *good or bad* lately/ever that would change our view of them. I feel that if you take each thread with a grain of salt, you can apply what you learn how you wish.

Honestly, I’m more exhausted by reading DH vents than I am seeing companies being ‘outed’ (wahm or not). I understand the ‘rule’ about ‘bashing’ wahms, and feel it is necessary as some people would post a bash before even communicating with the mom. *Even if it’s a passive-aggressive “What should I do/WWYD” thread.*

Have you tried to get in touch with these major companies? Chances are, IF you hear anything, it will be a letter containing PR bull and coupons to get you to spend $$ with them. By having the opportunity to get info here on DS, we can investigate it further if we feel a personal need to. These companies *big/small/independent* will have no reason to change how they operate/their product if the public isn’t aware and therefor take no action or continue to shop there…

Just my :2cents:.

This thread didn’t get much action, and surprisingly didn’t get deleted either.  People do realize that the censorship is getting to be a bit much, but really, you can’t do anything about it.  You can’t say that Walmart is bad.  You can’t say you had a bad return experience with Target.  You can’t complain that Dell took too long to ship you something.  You’d think as adults we wouldn’t need rules like this.  I’ve yet to see a rule like that at any other forum. It really is just a ridiculous rule, but, what can you do about it.  Maybe this is why some people think it’s defamation to say they have bad products? It’s totally legal for people to have opinions, it’s too bad it’s not supported by DS.

Reason #1930744895 why I don’t frequent DS anymore. I think in the last 2 weeks I may have post 2 or 3 times. It’s crazy. I can have an opinion. It’s part of being an adult in the US.

  2. Stephanie says:

I think it’s overboard, but I understand the reasoning. Discussing a bad transaction almost always turns into bashing. So they said no bashing WAHMs. Then people started trying to define WAHM-is GM one since she outsources? A lot of people said no, so it was ok to bash her. They had to include all businesses because a few got out of hand.

  3. What a wanker says:

The only reason is because of goodmama. They can’t figure out the line between and WAHM and a big company and they really want goodmama to fall on the side that doesn’t get bashed, so, the easiest way to do it is just not allow any bashing of any company. It’s stupid.

  4. Sarah says:

I must agree with What a wanker. I don’t understand why Suzanne and her overpriced (and nothing special IMO) pee and poo catchers are considered beyond reproach, but they are. Even before they implemented the no WAHM “bashing” (quotations as I don’t consider honest criticism or feedback to be bashing) you could not say anything evenly remotely implying that Suzanne and/or her diapers were anything less than absolute perfection without getting your ass handed to you by multiple posters.

Sad that “we need a baby sitter”.

  6. sbolen says:

Its so stupid. If people would just be respectful about criticizing whams, we wouldn’t have this. However, DS is just going overboard and treating us like children. I haven’t been there much. I feel like anything I say will get me banned. So, I’ll go there to sell and buy but that is it.

  7. Well, they did close the thread. They don’t really like discussions about the censoring either, but I figured it would have been closed way before 50 posts.

I totally agree ! But sadly I think that even the FSOT is starting to get out of hand too !
