My diaper is better than yours *vent not brag* PIC OF DIPE ON PG12 So I took Syrus to the park up the road and he was crawling around on the grass playing with his toys and another mom comes in and, since her baby is around Syrus’ age, she put her daughter down next to him. I was like 5 feet away, if that far, and she came over to me to watch them interact. It was really cute, truly it was, but then I noticed her daughter had fleece shorties and I asked “is she cloth diapered?” and the lady, I’ll call her Mary, looked at me shocked and said “why yes, she is, how did you know?” and I told her that Syrus is too. Upon hearing this she looks at him more closely and realizes his camo “shorts” are really a camo dipe and she goes “oh, what kind of diaper is that, it’s darling!” I said “oh, it’s home-made.” Now I would take that to mean that the diaper was made at home, but Mary looks at me puzzled and said “I’ve never heard of that company, are they any good?” I stifled my laughter and explain that I make all his diapers and showed her the others in the diaper bag. She looks at me even more confused and says “why do you make them? don’t you know Good Mama’s are the best?” Now it was my turn for a puzzled look. I asked “are all ur DD dipes good mama’s?” and Mary, thinking she was sounding smart I guess, said “yes, and I think every CD’ing mom should have a whole stash of GM’s”. I just let that roll off my shoulder and we walked over to the kids to make sure there weren’t any bugs on them and as we sat down I said “well I prefer my home made ones, though I haven’t tried anything besides them and prefolds, but they haven’t leaked yet :goodvibes: ” and Mary says “well they will GM’s are just better” I was about to pick up Syrus and leave, but instead I, trying to play nice, said “well that may be the case for you, but some diapers just don’t work for some babies” and Mary, in all her glory, turns and says “well you sound a little jealous that my diapers are better than yours”. At this point I want to smack her, but I looked down at the kids and laughed and said “well if GM’s are so great, why did ur DD just take hers off” :giggle2: . Mary looks at me all annoyed and says “well it could just have easily been your son to take off his diaper” and I know she’s right, but then she decides to just put a new dipe on her DD and she pulls disposable wipes out of her diaper bag and I said “wait, you CD, but with disposable wipes???” and she said “well yeah, how do you clean him, ur hand” and I said “no, cloth wipes with a spray bottle of water (with a drop of soap)” and Mary looked at me like I was from Mars and says “well that’s gross, now you have poop on 2 things to wash” I really did want to smack her, but as she was closing up her DD dipe she says to me “Face it, GM’s are just better, plus, they are waaaaaaaaaaay prettier than the thing on your son”. I didn’t let her get the last word in though. As I picked up Syrus to leave I said “well yours may cost more, but at least his are made with love.” Have any of you ever encountered such narrow minded stupidity??? I know that GM’s are supposed to be amazing, but they are waaaaaaaaay too pricey for me. I also know that some CDing mama’s do use disposable wipes, but this lady had no idea cloth wipes even existed. PS~ I am not knocking GM’s, that lady was just getting on my last nerve

She grabbed my huge, lucious stack of GM’s out of my Petunia Picklebottom bag, and told me that I was a TERRIBLE mother for using cloth diapers. Then she goes into this outrageous story about how I am hurting the economy because Proctor & Gamble and Kimberly Clark, like, have employees that have families to feed. And I’m all like “Seriously, lady? I spent like a gazillion bucks on those diapers! I could feed a small third world nation on what those cost!” And then she SNIFFED my diapers, and said “Well, at least they seem clean, I’ve seen some real smelly ones in this here bathroom” (I think she must have saw you first, yk?) And I was all like, “Um okay…well I AM a GoodMama, so my dipes are clean”. With that she sneered at me, the most evil sneer. And she had a bit of puppy fur stuck in her teeth…so I knew I was messing with a quite menacing CD hater. Then I noticed that my baby (she’s 9 mos BTW) had crawled away during this whole convo- would you believe she was under a stall, practicing her advanced calculus on the toilet paper? I won’t tell you WHAT she was writing with *shudder* but yeah…you noticed her mad dexterious skillz when she got that diaper off. Totally MENSA material. Or stripper or both! teehee So, anyways. It was nice meeting you- we should plan a playdate. Hey maybe we could show each other our stash, make sure you bring your hoemade dipes. I really thought they were so…well, industrious. Good on you. Sorry if I seemed snobby. TOTALLY not my intention. I was still just a little rattled from my experience in the WM bathroom earlier in the day. I hope I never run into HER again! I think of AP as constantly wearing the baby throughout the day, breastfeeding on demand, co-sleeping, etc. So I understand where you are coming from. I think moms that work outside of the home are still wonderful parents. I guess it depends ones definition of AP. BTW I don’t think she was saying that moms who work outside of the home are bad or that they can’t parent lovingly.

The OP didnt say anything about being a “good” parent or a “loving” parent because you can be good and loving and not AP, she just was asking if working away from your child would fall into the AP standards. In my opinion it does not in a strict sense. I think very few of us can follow all the AP rules to a tee especially as our children get older, as parents we do the best we can and take what we can from what ever methods we favor.

I work, not by choice, but because I need to provide a place to live and food to eat for my child. I also still bf him at 17mos, bw him every d*mn place, gently discipline/parent, and my son is more attached to me than I could have ever dreamed possible. I would also like to c&p this: Attachment parenting implies first opening your mind and heart to the individual needs of your baby, and eventually you will develop the wisdom on how to make on-the-spot decisions on what works best for both you and your baby. Do the best you can with the resources you have – that’s all your child will ever expect of you. I actually don’t usually call myself AP, but I believe and follow most of the principles. But I think we should all have that open mind and heart mentioned above. I worked full time after ds#1 was born, and I don’t think that affected our attached-ness one bit!!

People are doing the best they can and trying to raise their children in the best way possible. AP is not a rigid doctrine, but rather a positive philosophy on child-rearing. My mom worked full time and was the best mom ever. However I know from talking to some moms that AP means being with your child 24/7 so I was wondering what other peoples opinions were. I was looking for some lap tees to go with my wool for fall….and found some cute ones on etsy. But they want 6.00 to ship one shirt from the US to the US, and one state over I might add, not that that matters…and for Canadians, shipping is 10.00 for one shirt!!!!!!!!

Cute, cute stuff, but there’s just no way I am paying that.

All I said to her was that her shirts were cute, but that the shipping was outrageous….and this was her reply just now:

Lets see – you joined today and the first thing you do is start complaining. Have you checked recently what it costs to ship stuff.
Everything is shipped by USPS priority mail – perhaps you should talk to them before sending me rude emails.

Yeah, I said that I do the majority of my shopping as a cd’ing mom on HC…but that a friend recommend etsy for lap tees. I mentioned using FCM too….I mean, even shipping in a flat rate envelope is 4.80…and you can get the postman to pick those up, and the envelopes are free!!

I wish I could post the name of the store, just so that nobody buys from them. So annoying.

Wowzers….it continues. Just got a reply to my last email:

Ok $4.60 for shipping (cost at post office) – 40 cents to cover cost of printing label, tape, postage machine rental, etc and $1.00 to cover gas to the post office and back (5.5 miles) and you decide that’s “outrageous”. I think perhaps you might want to check yourself before throwing insults around.
If you don’t want to buy my stuff that’s great with me – however if you just want to try and through your weight around, I suggest going somewhere else. Check my feedback – no one else seems to be complaining and they are certainly are buying. Did I not clearly state my shipping and handling charges? – I think I did – you could have just looked for another store – but no, you decided to insult me. Just because you are have a bad day is no reason to try and take it out on everyone else, I have noticed that the people that complain the most, buy the least, so I guess you are no great loss.

I’ll be watching your store to see what you make – so far you just seem to be a consumer.

Have a better one.

Okay…so I just had someone else contact her to ask if she would ship first class, to save on shipping, and this was the reply on that one:

Sure – if you go out and buy the packing supplies and bring them around here + line up at the post office to have it weighed – I’d be happy to send it first class – I doubt you would want is sent in a tatty old envelope – otherwise my shipping and handling charge is $6.00 – as stated. I guess I could always increase my prices to $23 and include free shipping – that would still be less than the stores I sell to, charge for my stuff.

So what the hell? Cotton Babies can send out poop-stained Bum Genius diapers and call them seconds now? We aren’t talking a mix up with one mom, there were at least 5 on the thread this AM before it was pulled…

Oh hell no; I would be PISSED if it were me. I went through and checked the “Terms” that these moms agreed to, and NOWHERE was it disclosed that they would be receiving used diapers. Who in their right mind would pay $12+ for used seconds? I also had 2 moms email me their order confirmations and such. Used was not disclosed on those either.

DS Pulled the thread this morning just a bit ago, I didn’t get a chance to grab the last of it or the photos of the used diapers. Cotton Babies was not “outted”. The photos were just of the velcro, no tags etc.

I just got some second quality diapers from a major retailer (please notice how I am not naming any names)….one if them looks as if it has been POOPED IN. Whats the scoop here? Has anyone else received any USED STAINED diapers from any and every major retailer offering seconds recently????

And I know they are used cause the part of said diaper that is used for fastening is very pilly (way more than any of said diaper I have owned for many months) and the laundry tabs are extremely fuzzy. I was not aware of any part of the listing that stated I might receive a POOP STAINED dipe. :yuck:

I was under the impression that I was receiving flawed diapers, not secondHAND diapers….I took pics, thanks mama…I am sure they will handle this as they have excellent CS. I am hoping it was just a mistake, an oopsie daisy ‘how did THAT get in there’ kinda thing.

Or did you buy a repairable diaper? I think those do come as used?

Nope – I even checked my invoice to be sure that I hadn’t accidentally bought a ‘repairable’ dipe…it was a SECONDS so says the invoice anyway. And ew on the repairable ones too…its one thing to be used…I buy used a lot from here, but I rarely if ever will agree to buy stained. I love the ‘never been pooped in’ listings myself :giggle:

Well that is comforting…maybe it is just rust or something, then, right? Except for the tiny amount of lint in the tabs as well. But I can get past the fuzzy tabs (most of us know I am just going to rip out the aplix and add snaps anyway :giggle: )…

Thats funny. You know I bet if I kept a tally of all the diapers LO poops in, I would find out that I could list some as never been pooped in. He probably wears some diapers but never atually poops in them.

I didnt buy any of the ones that said used but I saw them. Here is what it said … REPAIRABLE: xxxxxxxx One-Size Cloth Diapers

Even if you did order “repairable” – elastic and snaps are repairable… I wouldn’t really consider poop stains repairable! I would think the stains should be disclosed no matter what. ICK! So sorry, that’s really icky.

I’d be ticked if I got a diaper in that condition, for sure. I bought 10 inserts, though and 2 of the 10 are unmistakeably used – the tags are wrinkled and faded and they’re not soft like brand-new microfiber. And both had huge yellow stains right down the middles. I wasn’t terribly impressed, but I was getting ready to bleach all my inserts anyway, so I tossed them all in with the rest, bleached, washed, and stripped them and hung them outside. No stains left and I feel okay with using them now, but still. Blech.

If you bought the repairable seconds, it did say that they where used. Still an ick about the staining :yuck:

I got my seconds today and while the diaper was fine the insert was definately used. It had a light stain and the tag was soft and faded and wrinkled like it had been washed several times. I don’t plan to use this insert anyways but still didn’t make me very happy.

Thats what I’m thinking – they do have stellar CS so I’m not worried, just peeved a little and wanting to ‘get the word out’ to check ‘em over. I’ll make sure I update when they get back to me.

I am going to have to go take another look at mine. I already talked to them once because they sent me pockets instead of AIOs for 2 of them. Great CS. She said it was crazy in the warehouse. I wonder if they got the piles mixed up.

I got my package today (two AIOs) and one was still in the sleeve and the other looked new, I couldn’t even find what the “defect” was with either of them. I was thinking about buying a couple more AIO seconds but am thinking twice about it now. Ick!!!!

That happened to me, too. Two of mine came as pockets instead of AIO’s, but they are sending the right thing out along with a return envelope to send the wrong ones back.

That happened the last time I bought at one of their seconds sales, too.

Got an email today with a rather interesting tale.

Thought you might find this interesting (but I could be wrong)

I had a transaction with a mama where she used HER mother’s paypal account without asking. I get an email from the mother asking what the transaction was for because her daughter is using her paypal account without permission.

So I PM’d a mod asking if I leave feedback and Harmony96 told me that I don’t (even though money exchanged hands) because the buyer obviously is having buyers remorse. I asked her why since she STOLE money from a family member to pay for a diaper and shouldn’t other mama’s know especially if she’s done this to other mamas. I haven’t heard back from her but how insane is it that I’m just supposed to refund the mother (thank GOD I didn’t send the diaper out) and not let anyone know about this other mama.

OK, so this isn’t the first time that DS has pulled pregnancy photos from their site. Apparently it is ok with them to have a nipple covered by a baby’s head but not by a mom’s hand in pregnancy photos.

This happened a few months ago with another mom who emailed us about it. That time we didn’t get a cashe/screenshot. This time we did.

Cowmommy pulled the entire thread, and then pulled the thread where it was reported/talked about.

Ewww- my fluffy mail do people not take pride in the items they’re selling? Am I the only one who finds it gross to receive fluffy mail covered in *human* hair, wtf? I don’t recall if the listing said pets or not but I assume even if people do have pets they take the time to remove any stray hairs before shipping an item. Only this isn’t just pet hair, it’s ppl hair too :yuck::yuck::yuck: This is the INside of the cover that came to live with me today. It’s promptly going in the washer :banghead:

Now this is just gross!! Who really sends out stuff looking like that? Yeah, that was a bad transactiion.
